Great hotel not too long a walk from the centre of town. Very good breakfast, enjoyed the selection. Bit of a trek up 2 flights of stairs but not an issue that would stop me booking again.

Available parking, clean room, small but functional the en suite was very good, great shower. The staff are lovely, friendly and professional- breakfast was fabulous- good choice even the ability to boil your own eggs - a great touch. I had a light meal in the evening which was delicious I’ll definitely stay again

Beautiful old building, the staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, parking at the front but also a good sized car park at the rear. Nice decor throughout. The bed was comfy but I felt the room was rather small and perhaps updating but I would certainly stay again when I'm next in the area

Wasnt much more than a taxi home , so decided to stay over , ive stayed here before when it was connected to mannings , they have done a very lovely refurb , the breakfast room is light and airy with a fabulous supply of bits and bobs , the only thing that let them down was the shower room but there is little they could do to update that without spending silly money

Very nice hotel and well-suited to cycling holiday

I was cycling Lands End to John O'Groat and this was a fine hotel for that - very close to the National Cycling route, safe storage and battery charging facility, comfortable bed, lovely breakfast.

Hotel was amazing and host\owner Tim was exceptional. Extremely comfortable room, bed was great, free breakfast had a lot.to.offer. great location walking distance to Hall.of Cornwall. Tim put every ounce of his extensive hospitality background into this.property and has done it well. i will be recommending the Hotel Vara to others and will definitely return when I come back to Cornwall.

Lovely hotel. I had sudden trip to Truro to visit a family member in hospital and the staff were just…nice people. I particularly appreciated them being around to check me in even though I arrived on a late train.

Comfortable

Room was clean, and free on-site parking is available. Not much choice on the menu, but Truro centre is only a few minutes walk away. Hosts and bar-staff were very friendly.

We loved this hotel. While renovation of the entire property is ongoing, and we did turn down an upgrade to I suspect a newly renovated room, we found our Room #20 to be snug, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and provided sufficient variety with the option for cooked to order dishes. The breakfast space was lovely. We had dinner in on our second night and thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the fire eating our delicious pizzas.

Friendly helpful staff. Lovely downstairs renovation but rooms / bathroom need a refit. Breakfast okay would have liked a little more choice but adequate and i expect if you asked could have something different

Room was quite small and en suite abit dated. However I had several phone calls after my stay by the hotel blaming me for a crack in their sink in the en suite, which I had nothing to do with. They were constantly calling me and texting me the pictures of the sink. The crack in the sink might have been there before I used the room for all I know. I only brushed my teeth in the sink. Apart from this the hotel was nice and staff were friendly.
