Ramada Hotel & Convention Center by Wyndham Topeka Downtown
8/10 Good
"Affordable and easy access to highway. Have stayed there three times at least, maybe four. We found cockroaches in the bathroom on one occasion. Gross. The breakfast is okay. The pool is in an awkward spot. The elevators are scary - down a dimly light hallway with closed off ballrooms on each side. One elevator with warning signs inside: "Do not jump in elevator" Jumping will cause the sensors to trigger the emergency shut-off mode. The beds are comfortable. The views are decent on one side and terrible on the other. So much potential here and sadly it's a place for student groups and those on very low budgets. They threaten charging guests with $500 smoking fee and they ought to offer a free room to those who don't smoke with this kind of killing they could be making. The place smells like inhaled products covered up with cleaning agents and fresheners."
"I liked the quaint comfy room. It was quiet with no odor of any kind. The staff were easy to talk with.
However, I think the garage that is provided behind the hotel is pretty shabby and I didn't feel comfortable leaving my car nor walking through the parking garage."
"Comfortable, clean, accessible to a lot of things. Staff fantastic and helpful. Breakfast good. Room comfortable. Easy access to food, shopping and activities."
"The only real complaint i have was that the water in the pool is freezing. One of my main things to do with the grandkids, when I come to Topeka to visit them, is to take them swimming in the hotel where I stay. We tried, but the water was way too cold. I feel like if a hotel is not going to have a heated pool then it should be showed along side the amenity. Or at least have a hot tub, if the pool is not heated. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay there. The staff was great, the rooms were clean, the trundle beds came in very handy, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was pretty good, a nice change for the adults, from the normal biscuit and gravy, but the kids do like waffles, but were semi ok with French toast sticks instead. I enjoyed the extra with the sausage and potato mix, that had salad and cheese variations with it. Only other disappointment was the coffee was out both times we tried to get some, they only had decaf avaliable the two times we went to get some"
