We came to this hotel and this beach because it is known for sea turtles. My wife and I took turns snorkeling in the bay directly from the beach. We did not do a boat tour and talk to anyone about their location. On the second day while I was snorkeling in 5 feet of water approximately 30 feet from the beach I saw the first turtle eating off the ocean floor. I was startled to see it so close and was in awe of how beautiful it was. I assume the turtles are used to seeing snorkeling humans hovering and taking pictures because it didn’t care about me at all. I respected its space and just watched it. I have seen turtles my entire life in aquariums around the world but nothing compares to swimming with a turtle in its natural habitat in water so clear you can see for 100 yards. I immediately got out and switched places with my wife who easily found the same turtle in the same area. We ended up seeing two turtles together and countless different tropic wish species and coral. The bays ecosystem is alive and well. I suggest you invest in a GoPro to record the entire experience. Ours paid for itself the first day we were in the water.

The staff was very friendly, however there is not much to do. You can take a shuttle to a different beach with more activities however, if you arrive on the ferry any later than 1300 than you can't get to that beach. If it rains while you are there, there is nothing to do. Also the beds are pretty much cots and are definitely not comfortable so if you are trapped inside you won't be comfortable.
