Andrea and his family are the perfect hosts, down to every detail. This property takes you back in time. Enjoy your coffee out back at the top of the property for sunrise. Take advantage of having breakfast . This place is a must while visiting Tirano. Very close to train station.
The property is an old stone home that’s been renovated and updated but still has the hominess and feel and a lot of sweet touches that are just so lovely and wonderful! The owner is on sight all the time and is so helpful with maps, history and conversation about Italy and background. It is truly wonderful. Our room had a sweet balcony as well. The breakfast was an assortment of meats, yogurt and danishes all fresh.
We LOVED our stay there!! The room, bathroom and the building itself is just phenomenal! They don’t just offer a room to stay for the night but they offer a home where you can be comfortable. We are grateful to Leah for being kind, funny, and helpful to us. He did not only recommend places to visit/eat but he also helped us out with our train. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND Ostello del Castello Tirano TO OTHERS!!
This was one of the best stays. Beautiful location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again. I wouldn’t even consider another option.
Close to train station.
We had a great stay here. Great location, excellent breakfast, great all around experience. Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely stay here again.
So nice and friendly place to stay! A very personal hotel and Andrea was so helpful with answering all our questions. A big plus was that there was a small play area for our kids to play a bit and the breakfast was very nice as well!
One night stay with family. Samuele at the front desk was courteous and super helpful. Have a short tour of property including access to terrace from where we watched the meteor shower. He also gave restaurant recommendations and helped book taxi. It was a very nice stay.
We absolutely loved our stay! The property is charming with beautiful views. The owner is so kind and makes you feel so welcome. I highly recommend visiting Tirano and staying here!
A beautiful stay for one night en route from the Bernina express. Beautiful family room accomodation, spotlessly clean, with a wonderful friendly and kind host. Easy short walk from the train station with 3 kids plus luggage. Sorry we couldn't stay longer! Ten stars!!
Such an incredible place! It’s like out of a movie. The views from the back by the old exterior castle walls were perfect! I hope to be back again someday! Andrea was a terrific host!

Excellent stay host Andrea was amazing, location great, perfect stay
If you’re looking for a place with genuine Italian hospitality, this is it. The little castle is full of character, beautifully restored, and feels more like staying in a historic home than a hostel. Every corner reflects care and attention to detail.
What truly made our stay unforgettable was Andrea. His warmth, local recommendations, and sincere passion for welcoming guests turned a great stay into an exceptional experience. He made us feel like friends rather than visitors.
If you’re traveling through Tirano for the Bernina Express or exploring the region, don’t miss this hidden gem. We’d gladly stay here again. Highly recommended.
A charming, historic property with a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. I loved the aesthetics of the property overall. There was a courtyard with basketball and other balls available, perfect for my kids. The location is walkable to restaurants, and we were provided with a helpful map to navigate the city. The staff were welcoming. Breakfast on site was a lovely amenity (with a cost).
While I appreciate the eco-friendly choice to air dry guest towels, it led them to smell strongly like mildew and feel too rough. There was one liquid soap to use in the shower. Without air conditioning, the room was uncomfortable for us in the summer heat though others might be more acclimatized.
Overall, the experience was somewhere between a hostel and an inn.
We had a wonderful yet short stay before our Bernina Express train journey. Andrea, our host, was very kind and helpful. He shared stories of his family and the area and gave us suggestions for exploring the town. He knew we had to leave early in the morning for the train and had a wonderful and fresh breakfast ready for us. The hostel is very cute and cozy, with thoughtful touches throughout, including color/coordinated towels and cups for the bathroom, and a beautiful outdoor terrace space. A short trail leads up behind the hostel for quiet and beautiful views of the town and surrounding mountains. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!
Amazing place. Beautiful facilities. The host, Andrea, was so kind and helpful at all hours. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Would definitely recommend and will stay again if we visit Tirano again.
