"It's a hostel, not a hotel, so if your expectations are set appropriately, this is a superb find. A bit out of town - 15 mins walk downhill into town and a $1.50 taxi ride home - but nestled at the foot of the mountains. So much nicer than the hundreds of hostels surrounded by karaoke bars near the bus station in town. Run by the nicest, most obliging family. A fabulous breakfast included. Recommended most highly."

"I like the fact that the place had a quiet surrounding atmosphere. the view of the city of Baños Is spectacular as is to be expected from the hotel location. The hotel owner is very friendly and accommodating. he speaks Swedish, English, and Spanish."

Very safe location, I was able to walk around late at night without worries. The best part was the excellent service from the front desk staff. Extremely accommodating person at the front desk who was very responsive to our needs and gave a personalized experience. I have managed hospitality and travelled extensively and this stay I received some of the best service...

"These people ghosted me. Booked 24 hours before stay. I showed up and they never answered the phone or my messages. There is no front desk or reception area. I think this place is a scam. Once the customer service agent from hotels.com managed to get them on the phone. They said they didn’t speak English and after that they never answered the phone again. This place should not even be listed and travelers should stay away. "

"This place is in the heart of Banos, next to the main cathedral, close to everything, with a view of the town, and mountains around it. The place is well kept, creatively remodeled, and had very helpful staff. You will have noise from all the activity outside but the patio doors do block much of the sound when closed. If you're very sensitive to sound you might want to be further from the town center. If you want all the shops and restaurants nearby, this is the place. "

"This is one of the most beautiful properties I've ever stayed at. Every feature and design details were very thoughtful and luxurious. The extensive grounds were well maintained. The pool and spa was the highlight. It was just breathtaking how beautiful it was! Our room was very clean and comfortable. We dined at the hotel both nights that we were there and we had great meals. The view from the restaurant was phenomenal. The staff was fantastic and attentive. I highly recommend Samari resort! "

"Bettina and Darwin are the most hospitable hosts imaginable. There are only 2 rooms, so you immediately feel one of the family. My room was divine, colourful and comfortable. Breakfast with a breathtaking view over Banos, under the supervision of their two llamas grazing nearby. It’s worth coming to Banos just to stay here.
Only caution- the road is very steep. My taxi wouldn’t take me up as it had been raining. There is a driveway - i should have taken the left fork by foot, instead i took the right (where the taxi driver indicated) which was muddy, steep and difficult in the dark, especially if like me you’re carrying too much
But worth it!!!"
