Wonderful gem of a hotel

Albergo del Sole is newly renovated to highly exclusive rooms in the central island of Taranto. It has a sea side and a "roundabout" side of rooms, and it is two different worlds from your room, we could see when we left. Taranto old town itself is still partly run-down, and Albergo del Sole is on the side of the island, that is not really modernized. Which makes the experience even more authentic. The staff is very charming, and the breakfast is far above normal Italian breakfast. A hotel really worth visiting in a city area really worth visiting.

Das Albergo del Sole liegt vom Bahnhof aus sehr gut zu Fuß und auch schnell zu erreichen. In der Nähe befindet sich ein kleiner Parkplatz, eine Bushaltestelle (super praktisch für eine Rückkehr am Abend), zwei Fisch-Restaurants, ein kleiner Laden, ein Hafen und das Mar Piccolo. In die Altstadt geht es flink über die Straße, ein Aufenthalt dort ist jedoch nur bei Tageslicht zu empfehlen, da man sich dort sonst verläuft und in unangenehmen Situationen wiederfindet. In die Neustadt und die FuZo Via di Palmi sind es ungefähr 1km oder 15 Minuten am Meer entlang, vorbei an tollen Aussichten und Parks. Das Frühstück ist ausreichend um in den Tag zu starten, Heiß- und Kaltgetränke gibt’s in Hülle und Fülle und auch auf Bestellung. Die Rezi ist 24 Stunden besetzt, was gut ist, da man seine Schlüsselkarte aus Sicherheitsgründen beim Verlassen des Hotels abgeben muss. Im Zimmer gibt es neben einem gemütlichen Bett eine Minibar, einen Safe, einen Schreibtisch, TV mit nationalen und europäischen Sendern, einen großen Kleiderschrank und Verdunklungsvorhänge. Das Bad ist praktisch und geräumig. Ein Info-Buch über Taranto, eine Roadmap und ein Reiseführer liegen auf den Zimmern bereit. Das Personal ist erfrischend freundlich und hilfsbereit und spricht englisch und italienisch (deutsch weiß ich nicht, da ich in Italien bevorzugt italienisch spreche und deutsch/englisch vermeide). Insgesamt ein sehr angenehmer Ort für Zugreisende und Stadtspaziergänger.
