Very Old Hotel & Rooms

The room, bed, TV and toilet are very old. The hotel is outdated. Only one thing is appreciated, the breakfast is good. The security of the room is not good enough, the room key is just hanging on the wooden wall of the receiption.

Un bell'albergo con vista stupenda

L'hotel è in una villa padronale vicino a Porta Catania. La vista sul mare è splendida. la passeggiata la si raggiunge in pochi minuti. La piscina è accessibile facilmente con l'ascensore ma, data la posizione, è poco areata e non presidiata. Questo è anche dovuto alle piccole dimensioni della struttura. La colazione è adeguata. Se si arriva in macchina si può posteggiare a un costo ragionevole. La camera con balcone che mi hanno dato era spaziosa e con vista stupenda. Sono soddisfatto del rapporto prezzo/qualità.

Air conditioner in room didn't work - I mention it and they say they would get it fixed. When I inquire upon returning from a walk, they said it was fine. It wasn't - they follow me to the room and verify it's not working, and then said they cannot get anyone to fix it. I should open the window instead and hope that mosquitoes don't come in. They were fully booked so they cannot switch rooms, so I ask for a partial discount. They said they cannot do it. Furthermore, there was no water provided in the room, barely usable hand towels. Not what you would expect for this price.

Hotel in ottima posizione con splendida piscina

Hotel molto bello ricavato in un antica villa dotato di una splendida piscina. Personale cordiale e molto disponibile. Pulizia eccellente. Colazione buona anche se non ricchissima. Posizione ottima: a piedi si raggiunge in un minuto il centro storico. Purtroppo segnalo la pecca del wi-fi: si attiva solo se si sta nei dintorni della reception, in camera e in piscina non va. Attenzione che gli extra si pagano a parte: il parcheggio (interno alla struttura) costa 15 euro a notte; i semplici caffè si pagano pure. Nel complesso hotel 4 stelle molto valido dove vale la pena soggiornare specie se trovate qualche offerta scontata sul pernottamento!

Hotel vicinissimo al centro

Camera non corrispondente alle foto sul sito. Illuminazione “tremolante”, segnalato immediatamente e non presa in considerazione. Bagno: è stata sostituita la porta ma non rifinito il muro lasciando grezzo. Pavimento con le fughe “nere”, tasselli con ganci non più utilizzati lasciati al muro. Da Mac 2 stelle. Camera: televisore obsoleto, presa a muro per te fuori dalla cassetta murale, numero insufficienti di prese, per caricare il tel. Scollegata abat-jour. Mobili: aperto cassetti comodino che puzzavano di vecchio; armadio, grucce appendi abito addirittura da tintoria. Finestra su stanza visibile dalla strada.

A very tired, neglected and run down hotel

This is not a 4 Star hotel as advertised. The hotel is very tired, neglected and run down. The breakfast patio has pot plants as decorations. The only things growing in them are weeds. There is a lamp on the patio tied down with wire because the bracket is broken. This sets the tone for everything in the hotel. Breakfast was way below average and on one occasion, the milk was sour. We spent a month travelling the Greek Isles and Sicily and we unanimously rated this as the most disappointing place that we stayed in. The bathroom has very little shelf space and you need to place your cosmetics on the floor. There is old furniture just standing in inappropriate places. We hired a three bedroom family room. There were only two chairs on the balcony. The best thing about the hotel the young receptionist Claudia. She is just charming and very helpful. The hotel is in a very good location and the parking is very handy.

Kleinod in Traumlage mit riesen Managementprobleme

Das Hotel hat leider seine besten Zeiten hinter sich. Der Besitzer weiß die traumhafte Lage(nur wenige Meter bis zur Flaniermeile Corso Umberto, trotzdem sehr ruhig über einer Schlucht mit Meerblick und von der Terrasse mit Etnablick) und den wunderbaren Stil vergangener romantisch königlicher Zeiten nicht zu schätzen! Der Garten wäre eine Oase, wenn es einen Gärtner gäbe Unser Empfang war sehr herzlich, Englisch kein Problem. Dann zeigte man uns das über Expedia gebuchte Standardzimmer mit Meerblick ( letzte Renovierung im vorigen Jahrhundert)mit dem sofortigen Hinweis, für 50 € mehr ein größeres Zimmer zu bekommen. Leider hat Expedia auf seiner Plattform falsche Zimmergrößen angegeben. Dieses Standardzimmer hatte max.14 qm (mit Bad) Es wäre nicht möglich gewesen den Koffer geöffnet abzustellen!!! Wir fühlten uns abgezockt, hatten dann aber ein Zimmer, was ok war, aber mit Sicherheit auch keine 40qm, keine Möglichkeit für ein Zustellbett, wie bei Expedia beschrieben. Das Frühstück war für italienische Verhältnisse ok, entspricht aber in keinsterweise dem deutschen und hygienischen Standard. Der Kaffee und die Croissants war sehr lecker und die freundliche Frühstücksbedienung war gleichzeitig die Putzfrau im Haus.( tgl. Handtuchwechsel, Bettwäsche 1 mal wöchentlich, wir hatten in 6 Nächten keinen.) Das Personal war immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Egal wo man hinsieht bauliche Mängel und fehlende Pflege des Objektes. Eine Bar/Lounge gab es vor Jahren.SCHADE um das Hotel

Ótima localização é funcionários muito prestativos

Em uma excelente localização e com uma vista incrível de uma varanda para o mar, o hotel oferece muito conforto e bom café da manhã. O quarto e o banheiro são amplos e bem arejados. A equipe é muito atenciosa e as decorações são encantadoras. Carece um pouco mais de atenção a manutenção patrimonial em alguns detalhes. De qualquer forma é muito bom poder contar com um apoio como o do pessoal do Villa Riis.

This could be a great hotel

Just not enough staff, breakfast is a hot mess (one person trying to serve 10 people), floors under the bed filthy, it's tile...it should be mopped. A/C worked, wonderful balcony, view, and pool. Elevator out of service (no sign), overgrown path down to the pool. Truly, if they had more staff and better housekeeping/groundskeeping it could be exceptional. Easy walk to parking garage and Catania gate.

stay away nothing good about it

they just did not care - elevator not working - pool area tiles coming apart - little amenities in room - blocked sing - after complaining nobody ever did anything about it - poor breakfast it was included in their rate not full breakfast as they advertise

Terrible

Lady at reception try to charge us 30 EUR extra for the dabble bad that we actually has booked and payed for! After long discussion we got the room. The worst room ever, tiny worn out with dark bathroom from 50', definitely not the one room on the picture on your site!

no hot water and nobody else in the hotel

fabulous location, receptionist very helpful and welcoming, good room. Eventually we realized that we were the only ones in the hotel, at one point not even any staff at the front desk. Very weird feeling as though the place had shut down with us inside. Eventually, a night time welcoming and friendly staff person and then, in the morning, the friendly daytime receptionist returned. A man identifying self as the owner, apologized for the water. In the morning, as requested, full breakfast on the seaside patio was excellent. Pool was being readied and perhaps in full season, a very beautiful and fun place to be. And I am sure there are folks who may have enjoyed having the entire building to themselves. Again, fabulous location and it had parking. Can't get better seaside view.
