"Riad Karmela at heart of medina, run by a team full of heart Eager to escape the end of the harsh British winter and keen for some early spring sunshine, we opted to go to Marrakech for a week. We picked this Riad because of its location and aesthetic and it did not disappoint. Situated in the Azbezt area of the medina, it is a few minutes’ walk from all the hustle and bustle of the souks and is excellent for all your needs as a tourist in the city. It is close to most of the main attractions and no more than 10-15 minutes walk from excellent restaurants. We took advantage of the transfers arranged by the hotel which was an excellent idea, as they bring you as close to the hotel as is physically possible. Walking down the narrow street to the fairy lit tunnel entrance, you enter the hotel and find an absolute oasis of peace and quiet. The riad is beautifully decorated in a traditional style, with several small courtyards that guests can rest in and shelter from the sun and the city. The roof of the hotel has many chairs and loungers for people who wish to worship the sun. The rooms were brilliantly furnished, with great facilities. The bed was amazingly comfortable with wonderful pillows we wish we could have kept! The breakfast every day was an excellent buffet, with an enormous range of tasty treats and delights on offer, including a wide range of hot and cold drinks. "I was really impressed by the artistic decorations and tranquility feeling of the hotel. The staff are professional and friendly. We originally planned to have hammam at the site, but as the heating was not working very well, the hotel refunded our money. The one-hour full body message was great!"

He went above and beyond to help us settle in, recommending great places to visit, assisting us in finding a hammam, and suggesting excellent restaurants. The breakfast each morning was delicious with a great and fresh, and the property itself is absolutely beautiful—well-maintained, comfortable, and inviting. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and Murad’s hospitality truly made our stay even more special. Highly recommended"

"Riad Houdou really was my palace for a week. I was treated like a VIP from being picked up at the airport to be dropped back again. Everyone was more than helpful, whether it was a very early breakfast (at 7am) when they usually start at 8.30am or the Riad tour when I arrived as well as an introduction to Marrakech the next morning, along with tips and tricks for tourists. I had dinner waiting on me on my first evening and was well organised enough to book it for a second evening when I knew I wouldn't be back from my trip to Essaouira until around 8.30pm. Finally, I don't want to say one part of my stay was better than any other, but it was remarkable how quiet the rooftop was when chilling by the pool. The same can be said for nighttime in bed but especially the two hours spent for the hammam and massage (something I recommend to everyone needing to make time for themselves). Shukran."

"The hotel is very beautiful with absolutely stunning gardens – the grounds really make a big impression and create a wonderful atmosphere. The food is very good and the staff is polite and friendly. However, you need to be very careful with room location. Rooms not facing the garden are very noisy, which can significantly affect the stay. Communication by email is also quite poor – we never received replies to some of our emails, including one regarding flowers that were delivered to the hotel and were unfortunately of very poor quality. Overall, we have mixed feelings. On one hand, it is a wonderful and impressive hotel, especially because of the gardens. On the other hand, small issues like noise and lack of email communication negatively affect the overall experience. We would still recommend the hotel, but strongly advise choosing a garden-facing room and confirming important requests in advance."
