The property is lovely - nice rooms, great shower - but the food is just okay. We had a great stay and the staff was very friendly. It is fairly easy to get into Tangalle itself from this property, though you will likely need to organize transportation because walking down the main road to get into town is a bit harrowing (a tuk tuk will be $1-2 USD each way). The downside to this property is that, while you can see the ocean from the "ocean view" rooms, the ocean is a bit far away, and there isn't terribly easy access to the ocean should you want to go for a swim. Again, you will need to walk about 10 minutes to the nearest beach or arrange transportation.

Rolige omgivelser og de sødeste ansatte

Fantastiske søde mennesker der arbejder på hotellet, beliggende på den anden side af vejen til stranden. Vi havde ofte poolen for os selv. Der var dejlig stille og roligt. Og så har de den sødeste hund lassie. Helt klart værd at besøge, hvis man ønsker ro og fred og en lækker pool. Maden smagte også rigtig godt. Hvis man ønsker byliv og aktiviteter hele tiden er dette ikke stedet.

The hotel is nice, and the staff very helpful. The pool is ok and the breakfast too. The only thing is that you have to take a Tuk Tuk for the beach, but I recommended it!

Et fint hotell, anbefales!

Fint hotell nær stranden, men stranden nedenfor er ikke egnet for bading. Stort rom med flott utsikt over havet. Rent. Noe støy fra AC- anlegget. God frokost, men svært varmt i restauranten. Et pluss at man fikk strandhåndkle. Alt i alt et fint sted å bo i nærheten av Tangalle. 250 LKR for TukTuk inn til byen.

Fint hotel et lite stykke utenfor sentrum. Det var sittegrupper i hver etg hvor en kunne slappe av å være sosial. Strand et stenkast unna. Topp service og hjelpsomme omtenksomme ansatte. De ordnet turer, taxi og overrasket med kake på min manns 60 års dag.

Friendly, clean and comfortable small hotel

Small hotel with 16 rooms all spacious and well equipped. Big bathroom. All very clean and well maintained. The owners are local, but speak very good Italian as they lived in Italy for many years. They are very kind, friendly and customer oriented. We had dinner there and the food , mainly local, was good. They have a small pool, the right size for the hotel, with a nice outdoor sitting area. The only negative point is the location. The beach in front of the hotel (the main road separates them) isn't suitable for swimming. The nearest swimming area is at about 200 m and a nicer beach is at about 1km. The village of Tangalle with the main beach is at about 10m drive. It's a very quiet area. Overall, if you have a mean of transport, I would definitively recommend this small friendly hotel.

A Wonderful Experience

This was a fantastic little hotel! I was a bit skeptical when we first arrived as it is on a busy two lane road (like all roads in Sri Lanka!) but our rooms were quiet, spotlessly clean and comfortable - an absolutely great value for the price. An earlier review said the walk along the road to restaurants was a bit dicey, and I agree that if you have very young children you may want to tuk-tuk, but the four of us walked very safely to nearby restaurants and beaches. The manager could not have been more solicitous. He arranged taxi service for the 4 of us to our next destination at a price that was lower than what I had previously negotiated off sight. We also had interesting conversations with an excellent waiter named Chamil who was willing to share his thoughts on Sri Lankan politics and economics - learned almost as much from him as I did from reading Lonely Planet cover to cover! Also had a lovely Christmas dinner for a very fair price. I can recommend this hotel to you without hesitation. Bon voyage!

Lovely!

The staff here are incredibly lovely and will go out of their way to help you with absolutely anything. We had to book very last minute, as our other hotel turned out to be permanently closed when we arrived!! Would definitely recommend to anyone. In a lovely area, quiet beach nearby and lovely food options close to the hotel too. A quick 25 min walk into town if you don’t fancy a tuk tuk too!

Beautiful rooms and lovely staff

The room was amazing - really big with a beautiful sea view and balcony, aircon, fan, tea, coffee, fridge. Very clean and modern. Shower was massive with really excellent water pressure!! Staff were very polite and friendly. Only negative was the pool was very green and quite murky, but nevertheless would highly recommend!

Hjælpsomt hotelpersonale på alle fronter!

Vi kom til Tangalle for at holde badeferie, men så besluttede vi os for at tage ud og opleve området alligevel. Vi fandt en river safari på trip adviser, som personalet hjælp os med at arrangere og det var bare tip-top. Personalet var hjælpsomme med gode idéer til, hvilke strande vi kunne besøge og stillede tuk-tuk chauffører til rådighed (mod betaling). Vi nåede desværre ikke at spise aftensmad på hotellet, da der lå så mange spændende spisesteder i nærheden. Hotellet var dog ikke det mest livlige, idet vi besøgte det ude for sæson. Men alt spillede som det skulle. Da vi skulle videre fra Tangalle, benyttede vi en driver fra hotellet. Det var den billigste pris vi kunne finde (tangalle-colombo =14500 lrk) Samlet set et rigtig dejligt ophold!

Great place to stay

We stayed at Sole Luna four Four nights in July. The hotel staff were excellent and helpful. The room was huge and very clean with a view over the ocean. The only thing we didn’t know before arriving is that the sea is very rough in tangelle at this time of year, so we couldn’t swim in the ocean. It was therefore fantastic to have the hotel pool. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. We also ate at the hotel three of the four nights we were there because the specials the advertised were great value and good food. The hotel also arranged our car to travel on to Unawatuna which was also perfect. Overall we loved our stay at Sole Luna and would highly recommend them.

Overall nice, but terrible spa

Had a nice stay at Sole Lunar. The reception staff and waiter(s) are very friendly and helpful, but they could benefit from giving some more complete information about the hotel, the area and ammendities on check-in, we had to ask and find out a lot of stuff by ourselves that should have been informed by the hotel staff. The hotel in general was nice and had large comfortable rooms (a bit noisy AC, but no big issues) and they were generally clean and nice. The pooll area was also clean and nice for the price of the hotel. The really best thing about the hotel was the food. We had all inclusive on meals and everything we ate was delicious so they score really high on food - recommended! The hotel is located in a quite boring area, it is not much do to around the hotel, but it is nicely located towards some fine beaches, but at night time there is not much to do around the hotel - but Tangalle in general is quite calm at night time I feel. The main negativ with the stay was the spa - we booked a full body massage and the masseuse was horrible. She was way too intimate and we had to stop her midway through the massage because it was so uncomfortable. She was also very pushy on tips which we were not very keen on giving as the massage was terrible. Stay clear of the spa! In summay, a reasonably priced hotel with good rooms, nice pool, delicious food and terrible spa.
