in the room itself had a horrible smell of Dampness, the carpet was very smelly and upon my request to move into other room, unfortunately smell was as bad as the other... Please avoid the this place.

Getting old the hotel
Tiolet not clean, wet, just like Bangkok hostel feeling. Bed is okay but not allow checkin one hour earlier big minus....

Nice hotel but very dusty
Is a nice hotel lacking in good housekeeping. There were dust on the window ledge. Near the phone... etc. I had bad neck ache after sleeping on their pillows. They have nice breakfast.

Budget hotel in quiet lane and convenience shops
We booked 2 rooms, a double bed room and a quad room. Location was quite good. Quiet yet short distance to convenience shops. Not super close by night markets, need to have a good walk. Non-smoking room for both but double bedroom had a strong smell of cigarettes. Room was spacious to open 2 luggages for double and 3 to 4 luggages for quad. They provides amenities. Toilet was okay. Washing machine and dryer would require for payment. Try refrain from using as its mouldy. The washing machine tubs havent been clean for ages. Moulds and dirts can be seen on the Water dispenser tabs. Breakfast was reasonable. Porridge, rice, bread, bun, some breakfast spread but no butter. Salad corner, a veg dish, eggs dish, meat dish and braised minced meat to go with porridge or rice. okay, overall i wont recommend anyone to go this hotel. Unless you do not set any expectations.

Great hotel in "old Taichung"
Great reasonably-priced hotel in a typical "old Taichung" neighborhood at 15mn by foot from TRA Taichung Station. I had a nice and fairly spacious room with city view (even from the bathroom). Nice buffet breakfast too. Just across the street is a famous local temple. Taichung Park is 5mn away by foot.

good enough place, great front desk staff
hostel experience was good enough, was used just as place to sleep. there was a nice big window near the bed, so i could see outside (thus did not feel claustrophobic). shower and bathroom is ok,what do you expect? location is minutes away from the Second Market, where one can grab some good local foods (such as the pork rice, radish pancakes, iced black tea etc). there was a nice large assortment for the free breakfast, although i was already stuffed from the second market breakfast and did not partake. the highlight of this stay was to be able to chat with the two wonderful members of the night staff (front desk) Elise and Ivy who had good cheer and were able to tell me about places to go.

Stay was overall pleasant
Bed was comfortable, blanket was nice and thick. AC helped to get a good night sleep. Shower facilities need to be checked. Drain was clogged and I was soon in a large puddle while showering. Breakfast was delicious! Hot and cold food! Overall good place to stay

Clean - modern - good value - convenient
Lovely budget option in Central area of Taichung. Spacious room. Walls a bit thin, but neighbours generally quiet. Free bikes to rent

Overall ok
Hotel not close to night markets, 10-15 mins walk to yi Zhong night market. Quiet place. Got nearby 7-11 and coffee cafe. Lobby nice. Hotel has lots of branches so take note when finding the one you booked.

Great place for a cheap stay
I booked a bed in one of their hostel rooms and it was amazing. The (bath)rooms were very clean and they had a curtain around each bed allowing you some privacy. You have to use slippers to enter the room and the only minus point is, that it would be nice if they also offer some for people with bigger shoe sizes like me. The breakfast buffet was amazing as you get the same buffet as the regular hotel guests. Huge choice and very good quality. The location is pretty much in the center and you are close to all your transportation needs. Highly recommended.

Nice little hotel cozy hotel
Taichung Kiwi Express Hotel - Chenggong Rd, is a nice little hotel that is not really near to any main attraction but are close enough to be able to walk to some of them. Walkable to TRS Taichung station and Yizhong. The staff that is very nice and breakfast is good enough. The room are a bit small buy rather comfortable and clear. If i go Taichung again definitely with consider stay with Kiwi Chenggong

Low point of our holiday
The hallway on our floor was smelly, dingy and the carpet had very obviously not been vacuumed for a long, long time. Our room was very worn and the smell of mold was overwhelming as soon as we walked into the room. After we advised the front desk they offered us beds in separate areas. Not willing to do this we accepted the offer of a so-called air purifier that was noisy and made little difference. Unfortunately we were so unhappy with the room we decided to change our plans and leave Taichung early. They should spend less resources on the lobby and at least do the minimum in upkeep and cleaning the hotel. Just because the property is old doesn't mean it has to look shabby. Also we paid mid-range price for what is actually a very budget, bottom level accommodation.

Location is good. Room is clean.
Walk around 8 mins from station. Room is clean. Bed is a bit too soft. Price is with breakfast. This price is worth everything.

Surprisingly nice budget hotel
Pleasantly surprised... it didn't feel like a budget hotel. Conveniently located next to bus stops, and about 10-minute walk from main train station. Also - free breakfast!

Solid budget choice
Kiwi Express is a stylish budget hotel with a clean enough room (just don't look under the bed!) that covered the basics. In our room, 301, there was a lot of natural light although the bathroom was small. Also, the way the shower was designed, the water leaked onto the main part of the bathroom floor, although it would dry pretty quickly. The aircon was very strong and blew onto the bed. One of the beds was softer than is standard in Asia (which depending on your preferences, may be a good thing). The gap at the bottom of the door allowed noise from the hallway into the room. WiFi was unsecured and sometimes slow. The greatest strength of the hotel is the staff, who were helpful and responsive. The hotel was centrally located, but in a quieter lane. The buffet breakfast offered more Taiwanese choices than Western ones, with steamed rice, rice porridge and a handful of condiments to go with it, soup, two kinds of stir-fried vegetables, a meat dish, and scrambled eggs. There were sweet buns, white toast, and a limited salad bar for the Western options.
