A good choice for locals
it is probably a good place if you are not considering to go out of the hotel for a few days and enjoy the services offered inside. The photos from the hotel appear to be out of date. The actual condition of the hotel is not as optimal as it looks on the pictures. There are not enough power outputs in the room to charge devices, the bathtubs are sort of clean but things are breaking due to poor maintenance. The wooden spoon for the bathtub was cracked, the water drainer or stopper was not properly attached to the chain which made it difficult to drain the water. Small things like that which could be improved. Nevertheless, the experience was acceptable if you visit with the family and are thinking about enjoying the buffets and other services offered in the hotel. The location is remote so perhaps not for tourists but for locals who want to enjoy time away from the routine.

Great place for kids!
We had an amazing family trip at Freshfields Hotel. The kids club and outdoor play areas kept our toddlers happily occupied for hours. One minor nitpick: the on-site restaurants (and room service) say they close at 9PM, but they actually stop taking orders at 8:20PM, so make sure you get your order in early if you want to eat in. Alternatively, there are two great night markets within a few minutes drive. That's what we did when we missed last call, and it ended up being a happy accident.

The room is clean. The staff are nice. The hot spring pools are nice. However, we had an incident that the person delivered the complementary fruits to the room did not close our room door tightly.

Very nice facility and very good service at reasonable prices. The property is not in a shopping area but the location is quiet and serene. Room service met is sup-par by USA or Japanese standards.

Hugh bathroom with private hot spring. However, lack of sitting area or a proper desk nor table for dining. Staff was helpful. Public hot spring needs some upgrades in the sitting area.

Property is remote but quiet. Staff are not friendly and unhelpful. They allow kids swimming, diving, eating and drinking inside the spa or hot spring. Not a quiet place to relax. When complaint to front desk, they to you to complaint to the staff at the spa. Design of room was poor. You have to walk at least five to six steps before you can get your towel.

When I arrived, the front desk staff were more interested with an ongoing call that one of the staff is having. From what I heard, he was having an "argument" with the person who was demanding for a room but he just kept telling the person the hotel is full. The rest of the staff has an indifferent and nonchalant attitude. The room is good and spa service staff were all very proactive and friendly.

Hotel has hot spring water in room in addition to the public hot spring spa area. Massage service was good also. Breakfast had good selections. Will stay here again.

I booked this hotel because of wanting to have a hot spring water bath. The room did not have a bath. Hotel sent message to let me know and tell me I can cancel. Expedia does not allow me to cancel. I am very disappointed by the small room, two small bed, no table, no desk. This is worse than any business hotel in Taiwan. I was offered a room with bath for double price. Advertisement was misleading.

This hotel is great for families with Kids. Pools are good, the play room with ball pool is also great. My experience is that the service is poor. Staff would not let me into the gym (even just to stretch and do sit-ups) as I wasn't wearing sneakers. I explained I only wanted to stretch but they wouldn't make any exceptions. Needlessly strict. On our second night 2pm - 8pm they held a huge party in the pool area with stage and DJ, very loud music, dancing girls etc. They told us over 300 tickets were sold. It's an extra way for the hotel to make money. So on that day we couldn't swim in the afternoon and our friends (who were guests of the hotel for 1 night) were told they had to pay extra to use the pool facilities on that day! There was no mention of this when they booked online or when they checked in. The next day the pool water was very dirty fro mall the young party goers drinking alcohol in the pool. Staff said they would change the water but it takes a few days. Overall, poor management and guests aren't made first priority. The breakfast buffet is average. Not much for vegan/vegetarians (no baked beans even). Payign extra for a room with a view of Taichung city is worth it. Amazing view. If you face the other side you are looking at a car park.

Good relaxing stay
Stayed 1 night with wife & kids prior moving to CingJing. They enjoyed the spa in the room very much & everyone had good fun. Hotel is however in a rather remote area and you won't find any convenience shops nearby.

quite a remoted location. outdoor hot spring was good, well maintenanced, indoor sauna / steam room and the indoor bathing tubs definitely need some repair work done soon. Room were clean and comfortable, very quiet hotel.
