Very beautiful view in front of the hotel. Very friendly and very helpful front desk. Very tasty breakfast. We stayed the hotel for three nights. I should have booked the hotel room for more nights.

We stayed at the motel annex and had a nice view of the lake from the front door way. Breakfast had a lot of hearty choices in such an elegant dining room! The staff was very friendly and helpful! The location was beautiful in a small village and not too far from Loen (45 min drive). We went to Stryn a few times for meals and shopping. Hjelle was a good base for day trips.

I loved staying here and wish i could stay longer. Everything here is exceptional - the hotel , staff and amenities. The location is amazing. I’ve just used the rowing boat that the hotel let you use and it was wonderful. You must stay here !!

Härligt gammalt hotell med magiskt vackert läge. Vi bodde i annexet, där rummen är små men sängarna supersköna och det är rent och snyggt. Personalen mycket vänlig och berättar gärna om hotellets historia och ger tips på saker att göra i närområdet. Det enda negativa var att vi fann det enda middagsalternativet lite dyrt för oss, NOK 630 pp. I övrigt en toppenvistelse och hit kommer vi gärna igen!

The owner Lorentz was the nicest person we have met so far on our trip. He made us feel at home. His wife is an amazing chef and story teller. Highly recommend this hotel. Absolutely beautiful setting. Will be back.

If I could give Hjelle Hotel more than five stars, I would. Hjelle Hotel isn’t just a place to sleep, it’s an experience. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, with clear emerald water, towering mountains, waterfalls, and one of the most peaceful atmospheres we’ve ever experienced. The hotel itself has so much character and history, yet still feels warm, comfortable, and welcoming. The family that owns and runs the hotel makes you feel like you’re a guest in their home rather than just another visitor. Their hospitality is genuine, and their passion for the hotel shines through in everything they do. Our room had incredible views that we never got tired of, and waking up each morning surrounded by such spectacular scenery was unforgettable. The meals were excellent, made even more special by the stories shared about the hotel’s history and the local area. What makes Hjelle Hotel truly special is the feeling it leaves you with. It’s peaceful, authentic, and surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery Norway has to offer. It became the highlight of our trip, and it’s one of those rare places that you’ll find yourself thinking about long after you’ve returned home. We can’t recommend Hjelle Hotel highly enough. When we return to Norway, this will be the first place we book.
