Potential
This hotel which currently has ‘work in progress’ has potential which sadly doesn’t appear to be realised due to lack of a chef. (Restaurants very close by)
Our room although ‘cosy’ had a very comfortable bed.
Clean and comfortable. Decor appropriate for the house age. Room number provided by email. Bar staffed from 5pm although restaurant not available. Walking distance to the lovely and lively village. Visited Rogie Falls nearby - beautiful! Would stay again.
Staff was very friendly and amenable. Wonderful little restaurant on site with excellent food. Rooms were charming and it was a breath of fresh air in the countryside.
Such an amazing place for our family! The staff was absolutely amazing and made our experience wonderful! I would recommend this place to everyone traveling to Scotland and visiting near Inverness.
Nothing to like anything about this property.
To describe as hotel in not correct as it cannot be described even as bed and breakfast.
Very dated and bedding which was old and scratchy. Leak in the sink in the bathroom. No extra duvet and heating not working properly. We were supposed to get garden view room. The view from our room was dump yard infested with mouse. Photo available.
Definitely not worth for the price charged. I would say anything above £45 is not worth paying.
Breakfast was to be charged extra but was told it is out sourced. We left as soon as we ready and went to nice cafe a minute away for breakfast.
The check in system is hopeless. I was told I would receive an email on the day at 2pm and nothing arrived. I got to the accommodation and thankfully the barmaid was able to help me get into our room. The email with code for the room then arrived at 18:31. Also had other emails from them demanding additional authorization to charge my credit card despite me paying for the accommodation when I booked.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Quite the opposite of what their website says there was no dining and the bar was in the process of being built. I am sure it'll be beautiful soon once the refurb is complete

If I could give 0 stars I would. Do not stay here. It makes Fawlty Towers look like a 5-star. Seriously, please find somewhere else to stay. We had booked for 2 nights but left after 1. We were unable to get a refund from the hotel for the second night. In fact the hotel somehow managed to charge my credit card for the 2 nights even though I had in fact paid for the booking through Expedia a week earlier!! It took days to get Expedia to intervene and get my money refunded by the hotel for the overcharge. The double room we were allocated was very small and the bed was pushed up against the wall so one of us had to climb over the other to get out of bed! The bedding was rough and very creased. The towels were old, washed out and rough. The toilet cistern was not fixed to the wall securely. The decoration was dated and terrible.
We had specifically chosen a hotel with a restaurant so that we could have dinner and breakfast but on check-in were told that the restaurant had been closed for a couple of weeks. They had not updated their website or their entry on Expedia or other booking sites which was very misleading. The EV charging points were not working despite the hotel manager insisting they were. We were forced to find alternative charging points. This hotel is giving the village a bad name which is tragic as the village and other business owners are very nice. A big shout out to the staff at Deli in the Square who were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast there.
Wunderschönes Altes Gutshaus mitten in Strathpeffer!
