In our first room (321-A), we had no hot water at the sink or at the shower. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, though it is clearly marked as a non-smoking room. The door to the room sometimes did not close completely unless pushed/pulled closed. We were able to switch rooms (304-A) and everything in it worked fine and it did not smell of smoke.
The elevator in our building (A) was sketchy, as the doors kept getting stuck in the open position (not always, and I never noticed it doing so on the 1st floor, only on the 3rd floor).
The pool area had a large group of people, many of whom were let in without key cards and likely were not actual hotel guests. This group made enjoying the pool impossible, as a few of them kept yelling obscenities in front of my children and they were blaring music. A security officer asked the group to turn down the music at least twice, but once the officer was gone, they just turned the volume back up to an intolerable level again. The pool is surrounded by hotel rooms, so this pool should be monitored better.
The only saving grace was the worker at the front desk, who was polite and apologetic and accomodating. I wish I'd got her name. She was wonderful.
Overall, our stay ended up being okay. I probably would not return to this property, however, more because of the large group at the pool than anything else. The hotel security officer was completely ineffective, which bothers me more than the condition of my first room.
