While it is clear this hotel is needing updates and the hallway of our room smelled musty, we decided to settle in and enjoy the concert we visited for.
However, after the rain we noticed the carpets were wet, as were the ends of the drapes, and the musty moldy smell was now far worse and more than we could tolerate. The night auditor was kind and moved us to the only other open room on the second floor after confirming with her manager that they KNEW of a leak "in a room in that 1st floor area that maintenance dried the carpets from earlier". Im not convinced we weren'tjust placed in a wet room knowingly! The new room did smell much better but had dirty floors with visible crumbs, and a sink that barely drained, alongside one bed that was insanely firm and the other, softer bed, had a big dip in the middle.
It was a disappointing experience to say the least, especially with the cost of the single night. We did ask for and receive a late checkout to enjoy the pool a bit, snd breakfast was fine. Staff was nice, but the hotel and cleaning needs some true work for this to be worth the stay. Finally, it's good to know there arent taxis or ride sharing apps in Sterling, so if you pregame and dont have a designated driver, you're walking.
