We only stayed here one night but it was perfect. The views are so pretty! The staff was very nice and we appreciated having the option to eat meals at Kast, since there’s not a lot of options around. The towel warmer in the bathroom was a nice touch. The walls are pretty thin, our neighbors woke up very early and we could hear everything. But the beds were comfortable and the place was clean. I would definitely stay here again. Ytri Tunga was a little over 10 minutes away. Snæfellsjökull National Park wasn’t a far drive.
The rooms were clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and accommodating. They offer a limited menu dinner which was great because there are no other food options around. We ordered the salmon and the chicken dishes. Both were excellent. The breakfast in the morning was minimal but good and convenient.
This property was one of the best along our trip around Iceland. The bathroom in the room was very nice, the views, front of the ocean, and back of the mountain were great! Breakfast was very good and it was included! The staff was super-friendly and accommodating. Although, their instructions say to make arrangements for late arrivals before 6 pm, they are available after 6 in the restaurant which is also a reception. They are just busy serving the guests, but we saw several people checking in as well.
It was clean and comfortable. The room was spacious enough for our party of three and the staff were lovely. We had a great meal and appreciated the comfortable beds
The room at amazing views breakfast buffet was excellent, and the owner was a pleasant surprise from the US and I actually from Texas a nice surprise treat. Overall an excellent. Excellent.
The view from here is absolutely stunning. From the volcanic cliffs out the bathroom window to the North Atlantic Ocean in front you. Not to mention the full view of Mt Stepafell. Break was fantastic and the coffee was top notch.
It was a lovely place! If you are looking for an Iceland experience in the summer, this quaint guesthouse is nestled in the mountains surrounded by horses and sheep. We loved that there was breakfast included.
We only stayed for a night to break up our road trip and it was great. About 30 min to the glacier park and an hour to Stykkishólmur. It would be more if you wanted to stop to see the sights along the way and there are so many to see!
Because it is in a remote area, if you are trying to travel cheap, you may want to bring your own food. The only restaurant we saw was the one attached to the hotel.
Staff was excellent. Location was convenient for peninsula visits. The room, however, we found lacking. There was no TV and no refrigerator. The sink was super tiny in the bathroom with a weird faucet. No floor towel for the shower or towels to dry hands.
The staff were nice and the room was ok. Just really a bed and bathroom. There is a hot tub across the street but it's a separate charge. Breakfast is limited. Nothing hot. Location is good.
Positives-secluded spot that is perfect to see northern lights, which we saw. Neighbor cat greets guests. Breakfast was included. Check in and check out was easy. They had a towel warmer which allowed me to handwash and dry clothes. I did that. The windows opened so I wasn't too hot. There was also a nice closet with hangers to help dry clothing after hiking. I wish we stayed there longer.
Negatives: not perfectly clean. There was a dip in the shower which collected water that would pool and not drain. There was standing shower water when I arrived and I could not get it out without using a towel. They should dry it after cleaning for hygiene. The sink had hair in it from prior guests which I cleaned out in order to wash clothes. I'm not a fan of shower heads that face the shower curtain. Or is difficult to keep the floor clean. This one was very cramped but had a handheld shower only which made it easier to contain the splash.
Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. These are really minor/fixable issues and they were specific to this room. We wish we had booked more nights.
