Kazan Cathedral, St. Petersburg 

Kazan Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox Church built in 1801 -  1811 by architect Andrey Voronikhin. Also known as Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, dedicated to this venerated icon. It was modeled upon the St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican. It is located on the main road of St. Petersburg, the Nevsky Boulevard.

There is always a queue of people inside the church, they want to kiss a particular icon.
Monument to Catherine The Great in Astrovskogo Square in front of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. This is just off Nevski Prospect (Nevski Avenue) the main street in St Petersburg.

The statue in the middle is the Alexander Column, a 50 meters tall column thats unique of its kind.   This enormous column was placed in the middle of Palace square to celebrate the victory of Russia over Napoleonic France.  Unlike its ancient predecessors, at the top of the column there was not a statue of the respective emperor at the time
