We arrived with 2 other couples what a little gem of a place. Mario organised a staff member to meet us at the port and take us and our luggage to the rooms. We were greeted with coffees and the families own brandy( very good). Our rooms were ready by 10am, during that time we were given a talk on where to go and what to see, recommendations for places to eat. The whole place is modern with all the traditional atmosphere. Our rooms were beautiful with all the finishing touches of a 5* hotel.. nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff who made you feel very special,the food was equally 5*. Everywhere was within a few minutes walking distance. The 5 course breakfast was delicious using all locally sourced ingredients, the dirty eggs were cooked to perfection and delicious. ( never had them before) The evening atmosphere was something else in this quaint courtyard. We came back from an evening out and the restaurant was busy with locals eating and Mario insisted we all had cheese, ham , coffees and local liqueurs before bed, how special was that!! Even our airport transport was organised like clockwork and the driver gave us a history lesson on route. We cannot recommend the beautiful place enough and will be recommending it to our family and friends

We had a lovely room, the hosts were excellent, very friendly and helpful. They helped us with parking and the concierge met us to help with our luggage as the hotel is in a pedestrianized zone. The hotel is right in the middle of old ten Split which is lovely.

Amazing Makarun Heritage Rooms

Would thoroughly recommend. Your host contacts you ahead of time, provides activity options for your stay, we had a lovely clean room, it’s right in the centre of Split, and breakfast is the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. We loved it and will be staying here next year. Thanks to the team for making it so special

Small hotel, excellent location very comfortable. Especially attentive and knowledgeable hosts. Wonderful breakfast. Loved dinner at their 5 star restaurant in charming patio.

A gem!

I cannot say enough good things about our stay in June 2025. There was excellent communication before our arrival and they met us at the taxi drop-off site to navigate the pedestrian-only area with our luggage. The breakfast was a 3-course meal! And the service was always with a smile! We did not eat dinner at their restaurant but it looked lovely too. The hotel has a great location inside the old city walls but was quiet and off the main square. I would definitely recommend it for a visit to Split.

This is a wonderful property with only 5 units and an open-air restaurant/courtyard. The hosts are friendly and helpful and free wine anytime is a bonus! Full breakfast included as well!! Location is perfect for accessing the Green Market, the waterfront and shops and restaurants too. The unit was clean, with comfy bed and pillows which is critical to any stay! Bathroom is well stocked with toiletries too.

I travel a lot and I think this is the best hotel experience I've ever had!! Ivan was absolutely the best! From communicating with us to setting up a transfer from the airport! Explaing in detail the hotel, the room and welocome drink! Property is immaculate and staff welcoming. Mario brought our luggage in and out and let's not forget the amazing, 4 course breakfast made with local fresh ingredients and definitely love!! 100% recommend to all!

This is not a "hotel" with a lobby etc. it is a series of guest rooms which is attached to a restaurant. This is not an issue but if you want a true hotel you might be disappointed. However, in all my travels I have NEVER experienced this level of service. It was outstanding!! From being met at the boat and escorted to the property, to having a detailed review over drinks (on the house) of local attractions, having our laundry done for free, getting a breakfast to go on a day we had early plans and an overall level of attentiveness I have not experienced before. Ivan was particularly wonderful but the whole staff seemed genuinely dedicated to giving us a great experience. The room was also lovely and well appointed. The hot water, they warned, does run out rather fast due to the age of the facilities. That was the only reason I didn't give 5 stars across the board. Should I ever go back to Split I will stay here. In fact I would adjust my plans if need be to ensure I could stay here again. Really great experience!!! Thank you!!
