A bit isolated, but a beautiful situation facing the full Atlantic. Old hotel, comfortable, with good ciusine on offer. Enjoyed our stay.
What a beautiful place! We absolutely loved our time here! The place is dated. That’s for sure! But it didn’t detract from the charm and utter beauty of its setting. The restaurant food was excellent, staff lovely and friendly and breakfast was delicious. If you are in this region I’d get there. The beaches, the closeness to Eriskay, the utter charm of the place as well as their selection of gins!

Great views - Lousy Food
Fantastic location, but the quality and cost of the food let it down.
Never made it there because I thought I was booking a room on Barra, There was a medical emergency with our ferry to Barra. We would have gotten to Castlebay too late to get transportation to our hotel on Uist.
Fantastic location right by the sea. Spacious bar, restaurant, lounge and breakfast rooms. Small comfy room with a fab sea view. Shower room was compact, unfortunately one of the tiles on the floor was badly cracked and the shower door hadn’t been cleaned of soap splashes. Staff were friendly and helpful, although I wasn’t told I needed to pay for my restaurant meal on the night rather than at checkout which was a bit embarrassing. Hotel manager (Georgia) very kindly located some property I accidentally left behind and is sending it on to me for which I am enormously grateful.
The accommodation was fine. Perfectly adequate.
What was annoying is that my debit card was charged an additional amount, above the Expedia price, on the day I arrived. I pointed this out and as told it was a mistake and it would be refunded. It still hasn't been, 6 weeks later, and my emails/telephone calls go unanswered.
Not good, Polochar Inn. Not good.
On our recent stay at the Polochar Inn we were very disappointed, The room had not been cleaned for a long time considering the thickness of dust, as you can see from these photographs. We were leaving early the next morning at 6.00am and had been promised by The Polochar Management that take away breakfasts would be left out for us, nothing was there. We followed up with an email noting our disappointment but received no reply.
Idyllisk hotell som ligger alene ut mot havet. Flott utsikt mot en vakker solnedgang. Romslige rom og et flott bad. Gode senger. Utmerket restaurant som serverer nydelig, lokal mat og perfekt frokost. God parkering. Veldig hyggelig bar og serviceinnstilt betjening. Anbefales!
The hotel and staff are perfect, food was amazing with choices for all dietary needs.
Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable.
The manager was extremely friendly with time and knowledge for guests even when busy.
The hotel is situated on the sea front with amazing views, will definitely revisit
This is a grand old hotel with an excellent beach location.
Our room was large, well appointed and nicely updated.
Our dinner and breakfast were both excellent.
Parking was convenient and the staff most helpful.
The Inn is in a stunning, relatively isolated location right by the sea but there is still easy access to beaches and walks on South Uist - North Uist is also a reasonable drive away. We received a very warm and friendly welcome and our room was very comfortable. Dinner that night was very tasty and good value. We had to catch an early ferry so unable to have breakfast but really appreciated the cold breakfast bag that we were offered to take with us. We would definitely recommend staying at The Polochar Inn.
