All the ladies were very nice. Room was cleaned each morning. Nice small breakfast options. The gentleman at the front desk didnt impress me. Asked him if he could have one of the ladies clean our room and he said i needed to go find one of them. Had to go looking and couldn't find her. Went back to lobby and ended up asking another nice lady if she could tell the cleaning lady. She was very willing to let them know. He couldve done it. Other than him not impressing me, it was nice. Price was reasonable.

I have stayed here before and will again. Love the small town atmosphere here. Disappointed that they didn't have the breakfast as shown. I realize it was on a Tuesday morning and not a weekend but I was looking forward to biscuits & gravy.

and enjoyed it, the only problem this time was difficulty getting back in our room after hours after a concert and were unable to reach anyone to help from the motel phone numbers provided. After about 45 minutes we finally were able to get the door open and get in our room. Morning staff member kindly helped us get our car started after a dead battery.

The rooms was clean and towels were replaced each day. Personnel were helpful and kind. Beds were clean and comfortable. Shower was great. Carpet was frayed and room smelled bad when we arrived. Used Febreeze and it was good after that..

We stayed here while in town for business many times. Small quaint rooms, able to have our dog with us. Only wish would be that they would have king beds in the single bed units. Will definitely stay here again.

First time staying here. It was much older, but clean. Priced cheaper than the big boys. It is sufficient. If all you're doing is sleeping. We would stay here again.

For the price it was fine! Rooms were clean and well kept. Offered after hours check-in. For just a place to sleep it was totally fine. Definitely better than a lot of Motels these days!

Accommodations were clean and nicely handicap accessible. Just a quick stay so no reviews of breakfast or other facilities. Good for rest but no frills and definitely no view to speak of this early in the year.

This is not a fancy luxury property. It is basic, but it has everything needed. It is convenient. It is quiet. It is reasonably priced. It has a comfortable bed. It has a divided bath. It is clean. The continental breakfast is nothing to brag about, but for the money you save on lodging, you can enjoy the fanciest, most expensive breakfast elsewhere!

Hotel was very very clean, smaller rooms but perfect for a quick stay. We would stay again. My only complaint and everyone is different so this may not bother you. When we went to the main office for breakfast it smelled so bad of incense burning that it was unbearable and we were unable to make food or eat therefore having to pay and eat breakfast at another establishment. It is a small office/food area and it was overpowering to the point where you did not even want to be in there. We had to change into different clothes just from being in there for less than a minute.

I had stayed here a couple years ago and although there was a new motel that was cheaper, I decided to go to Der Ruhe Blatz again because of my first experience. It was deep winter with snow every night and the lot was cleared in a timely manner. When my lock froze in the sub zero F temps the staff was very responsive getting me back into my room. Breakfast was hot and ready. Highly recommend this motel. If you travel with pets, note that there is a nightly fee that is comparable to many motels. The only 4 star rating above was because my sink drained slowly.

I booked the room planning on coming into the town. Then later saw a winter storm was coming through the area on the next day, and i called and tried to cancel, but they said it was beyond the 48 hr limit. It seem, there should be grace for weather situations that are out of our control. One not happy customer

The best part of our stay was the room. Very clean and comfortable. The worst part was the breakfast. Breakfast wasn’t good. Gravy was watered down so much it didn’t even look like it had milk in it. The eggs were mixed with pieces of sausage and canned corn and was extremely watery. Very little food. The coffee machine was broke.

I visit Shipshewana several times a year and each time choose to stay at this hotel. It is less expensive than others in the area and has everything I need to be comfortable. It is an older style but very clean, convenient and easy to get to.

It was a good stay! Came up for horse sale. One of the check in early but wanted to charge me $25 early check-in fee. No one else in the hotel. All kinds of open rooms.

the owners had sprayed a disinfectant to our room prior to us arriving. The chemical was affecting my lungs and I could not stay there. We asked for our money back and that created a heated discussion. The owner said he refunded our money, however, I have not seen it refunded back onto my credit card. The owner could have been more friendly. I did love the location of the hotel. It was not far from all the things I love about Shipshewana.
