Hi Theryn, I am sorry to hear that you had did not have a positive experience here at the Anderson School. Our mattresses, which were very recently replaced, are generally found to be pretty comofortable by our guests. I do apologize that it was not to your liking. In the future, please feel free to let us know if there is anything we can do to make you more comfortable throughout your stay - our front desk has 24 hour reception. In regards to the dead bugs, this is not an issue that we are aware of. History with whimsy!
Our king room was spotless and cozy. The eclectic styling is so typically McMenamins! Loved having good coffee available just outside our door in the morning.

Our stay was excellent!. Room was very clean and comfortable. We ordered coffee and scones to be delivered for breakfast. Both were delicious. Note: the bed pillows were way to soft and became flat once your head was on the pillow. Bed was comfortable. I would like better pillows.

Back to school!
We live in North Central WA, but family & friends are in Kirkland/Bothell area. So, this is where we always stay! My husband grew up in Bothell and attended Anderson School in 7th grade. We love strolling the halls and looking at the old photos. It’s nice to bring our dog, thank you for giving us our favorite room on the ground floor near the alley door exit. Really like that the morning coffee is now available in the hotel, rather than in the restaurant/check in building. So much more convenient. And the available Seattle Times newspapers were great. Can’t remember the last time we read a “real” paper!

Think twice before you book.
Definitely a more rustic experience. We got in early morning as our flight had been delayed and were told there would a surcharge for not checking in before 2am. Then we were told we had to order housekeeping a day ahead. We said we wanted housekeeping every day. Well, that didn't happen. We found out we had to ask for housekeeping every night, but we found this out a few days later. The room was very cold and took a long time to heat up. The pillows were like rocks. The restaurant was nice though with a lovely fire place. Parking is a nightmare.

Unique effort to connect guests with the very recent human history of the site. Each room is named for a person connected with the old school, complete with an explanatory story of the person's connection with it. But there's no connection with past history, either the earlier settlers or the Indigenous peoples.

Hi Jonathan, we’re glad you loved the Hotel, thanks for the feedback; with Anderson School the history focus was primarily on the recent history and the people directly involved with the former school, students, teachers and the physical building and it’s rehab. Your point is excellent though; we’ve gone deeper into history, land acknowledgement and so forth at some of our other historical locations and often will update things to reflect more rich history.

Great space, wifi needs help though
Great space.. loved the feel of the place. Rooms were clean and quiet. The atmosphere is incredible and they have a large variety of bars. Only issue I would say is the WiFi is really bad. Had an important video call and couldn't take it because the internet kept dropping.

Everything was amazing except the mattress. Felt super low quality. Didn’t sleep well unfortunately but literally EVERYTHING else was perfect! Eating at the restaurants on site is an absolute must. Also room service breakfast was out of this world.

Something a little different...
Great rooms, great property. Needs better signs because the property is quite big and the layout is confusing at first. Other than that no complaints at all. The kids loved the pool area.
It says outdoor pool on their website, but it's all inclosed. It's well kept and very nice.

The lighting is not sufficient, so it is dark and there are no reading lights. The windows don't open in the rooms, the carpets are dark and seem not particularly clean. The dining options are very pricey and there is nowhere to sit outdoors unless you are spending a bundle on food or drinks. You can hear traffic from the rooms. There was a used tooth cleaner next to my bed. It seems the place was mostly designed for people who want to drink a lot of alcohol, which is not my cup of tea. Most of the staff are nice, but seem insincere and only nice because they have to be. I was disappointed, but it wasn't terrible. A lot of people seem to enjoy it, and I think it is quite good for families and the decor is fantastic and fun and the grounds are very nice.
