The Oaks Hotel

8/10 Good

"Good sized room and bathroom. Ceiling fan was very welcome on the hotter nights! Shower cubicle was a bit small but it was sized to fit into an alcove. All staff we met and interacted with were brilliant; very friendly and happy. Breakfast was good, particularly the cooked options. Continental / cold offerings were a bit limited with no evidence of some of the items listed on the menu (cold meats and cheeses). Parking was a bit limited especially after returning from a day out on the Sunday as many non-residents use the hotel's restaurant / bar area for meals. The Sunday roasts looked fabulous and very good value. We would have liked to try but, unfortunately, we just missed the 7pm cut-off time."

Bailiffgate Hotel

"We have been travelling for nearly 4 months and staying in various hotels, and I will say the Bailiffgate Hotel was by far one of the best hotels so far. We could not fault anything from the room, the welcoming, the food and the staff. Location was superb, opposite the castle and in walking distance to town with a variety of shops, friendly pubs. We will definitely stay again. Thank you to all the staff"

Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa

"The hotel is in a lovely setting and at first sight seemed to be everything you’d want in a country house hotel. The receptionist was very friendly, gave a short history of the hotel and showed us to our room, pointing out the facilities and where to find them. I had booked the restaurant prior to arrival. The evening meal on the first night was tasty, breakfast on both mornings also good, using good quality ingredients. The evening meal on the second night was not so good and left us feeling that some elements of it were too fussy with too many flavours put together. The vegetarian soufflé was awful, just a mound of stodge. We felt that £75 per person was far too much to pay for a three course meal especially as we had no alcohol with dinner. On looking around further, the hotel is a bit tired and rundown, a long handled cob webber is required, the window casements need cleaning, the sealant in the bathroom had black spots and wall paint needed touching up. The hotel is handy for visiting Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses and Holy Island."

Springwood Room Only Accommodation

10/10 Excellent

"Booked the room thinking it was B&B but isn't - it's room only - but that was my oversight. Pleased it happened tho as wouldn't have booked and would've missed out on a fantastic stay. The room is spacious and well equipped with everything you could want including mini-fridge and even binoculars - very handy given the massively panoramic view from the balcony. Very comfy Super-king size bed and a roomy, spotless and modern en-suite. All superb but it's the balcony that made it - what a view! If you want breakfast, go into Seahouses and get one there - they've got a list of venues. But don't let that put you off as this is a wonderful place to stay and great value for the facilities you get. Absolutely recommended and will be back."
