Along with many other guests, the views if you choose a sea view room are quite stunning, but we don't go to stay in a hotel to stare out the window do we.
I checked the reviews from all sites before providing my own and it is purely based on experience without being influenced by others.
It is a shame that there is a theme running through the reviews, because the building is in dire need of investment and perhaps this is why there is a little A4 note on the wall in the reception area pertaining to this.
Rather bland in it's explanation but I think it's fair to say, that it's not being run by hoteliers of the year.
My room had the bathroom ceiling wallpaper hanging off and is heavily stained with black, mould patches above the window too and poorly sealed around the bath. It is unsightly, but you just see, layer upon layer of "making good" as this decor is a make do measure.
I get it would cost a small fortune to gut it and the time it would take, but the owners clearly have their reasons. I would be too embarrassed to work on reception. Perhaps this is why there's a "disconnect". No one gave me the WiFi info and nothing in the room alluded to it so I had to go down and enquire.
Other than what I've mentioned, the main issue that affected me was the doors and floors.
The doors leading to the rooms need planing and rehanging.
The door to my room had to be shoulder nudged to open, but at least my yale lock didn't have a screw wedged in it, because it was obselete.
