"The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I liked the early evening gathering at the beginning of the evening. But, we were put in a room the was used for people with pets. We did not have a dog. The room smelled like a dog. It was clean but it had a dog smell. It was a nice day out, so we opened the windows. This was the only thing about the hotel that I did not enjoy. Oh one other thing. The fee of $13.00 a night for parking I thought was a little ridiculous also."

"Stayed here for a night as I returned my car rental and to head out to Boston which is very convenient to get to the Downeaster Station with little walking. It was a very quiet stay and room is clean for a good $90 stay. Totally recommend it. The Tony’s Donuts are amazing also and gas station in front of the hotel. I expected less but I end up very pleased with the stay."

"WELL WORTH IT$$$ I just finished my Trip in Maine. I stayed on few different hotels and Airbnb since May12-May 22 2026. I’ve had some really bad experiences and situations with my recent bookings. I’m making this review first because this is the only place that I can say I had a very good and peaceful experience staying on this property( May15-18th). The staff are very helpful and friendly and they go out of their way to help you with anything. Everything is clean, decent breakfast, kitchenette is well equipped. I will definitely recommend this property I wish i would just stayed here longer if I knew how amazing this property is well put together and super professional. I’m looking forward to stay here on my next visit here in Maine."

"We’ve stayed at this hotel 5 times now and have always enjoyed the historic charm and location. Check-in during this stay went smoothly, however we were disappointed when we arrived to find the toilet in our room was dirty. We also asked the front desk if the TVs allowed streaming services like Netflix or Prime Video, and the girl at the front responded rather rudely that “we are a historic hotel, so we do not offer smart TVs.” We completely understand preserving the character of a historic property, but the response came across dismissive for what was just a simple question. We were also told that because parts of the hotel are older, some areas may not look as clean compared to newer hotels. While we appreciate the history and character of the property, cleanliness and customer service should still meet expectations regardless of the building’s age. We’ve enjoyed staying here in the past, which makes this visit more disappointing, and we hope these issues are addressed moving forward."
