The first walk after the clocks go back and it's always a bit of shock to the system how early it seems to go dark. Looking back to the north-eastern fells from a long but easy stroll along the River Glenderamackin as a short-lived sun dog appeared.

We had a great welcome at reception and a very clean and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. The pool was clean, towels and toiletries were supplied. The hotel was set in lovely goods and was in walking distance of Windermere town.
