If you are looking for a 5 star luxury resort, this isn't it. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable hotel with very good amenities and an incredible staff, this is it.
First the Cons: The hotel itself is a little dated. It could easily have come out of the mid 80's in look and feel. The rooms have just a few available outlets for electronics, limited drawer space and no closet. My biggest issue was no refrigerator in the room.
Pros: The rooms are kept immaculate. Daily housekeeping and they do a fantastic job of cleaning and resupplying towels etc... The rooms are quiet, provide everything you need with a nice flat screen TV. The bed is comfortable, the shower surprisingly large for a hotel and the staff is the nicest I have ever found short on a $2-300/night resort. There is a pool, hot tub and small video game room that again evokes memories of the 80's. Lots of great dining, (from the original Culvers to a very nice local brew-pub right on the river as well as great shopping within minutes and of course, the Wisconsin river itself.
The area is safe (I left my car unlocked for two nights before realizing it) and the people incredibly friendly. If I am ever again in Sauk City I will definitely be staying here.
