Wonderful stay in historical charm

I stayed in El Beaterio for 4 nights. It’s such a beautiful casa museo located in a quiet area. The room is nice and clean decorated with old maps of La española. The courtyard has lots of sunlight and plants that I enjoyed my breakfast here (though you need to apply mosquito repellent as they are quite active if you come in early morning like 6-8am) Check out the terrace in the early morning and you would get a nice photo with sun rise. The staff here are very nice. I stayed in the room downstair the first night and I asked them to change my room to upper floor as i prefer more natural light in my room and they are really helpful to find a room for me and get it ready after I returned from a city walk tour. The breakfast choices are moderate with eggs, sausage, salamis, toast, fruits and yogurt. They also serve a cup of fresh juice and a big pot of hot coffee. The coffee was always hot no matter how long I had my breakfast which was great for me. I also like the location of El Beaterio a lot. It is close to everything but in a quiet and nice area which I feel safe and calm. The restaurant El Buho a few steps from the hotel serves very nice food with reasonable price. I had ceviche tropical and it was very tasty. I tried 4 restaurants in zona colonial and El Buho was my favorite. Highly recommend to stay in El Beaterio if you want to enjoy colonial charm away from the crowds.

Beautiful building but disappointed with stay.

Beautiful colonial property in the city center. Quiet location, good for a couple of nights. We like staying at these small boutique style hotels, as the staff tends to interact with the guests. They ask they typical questions, where we are from, what are our plans for the day, make recommendations, etc... That never happened here. Staff did their job, but they were cold. They did their best to answer any questions we may have had, but did not engage otherwise.

Este hotel me gustó mucho. La cama estuvo cómoda, su desayuno, limpieza y tranquilidad. No obstante no sabía que la calle que queda justo al frente y todos los laterales estaban en construcción. Me encantaría ir un día donde todo esté abierto, donde su rooftop funcione ya que tiene buena vista y tiene un bar. Pero ni tuve suerte todo estaba cerrado y aunque el rooftop es bonito no tienes a dónde mirar porque todo es construcción. Descansé bien, desayuné de manera excelente. Una cosa importante: la bañera !!! Sólo cabe una persona y cuidado 😂 era un lugar de monjas imagino que se quedò la ducha tal cual ! Difícil coger Uber: tienes que indicar en mensaje cuál es la calle ya que casi toda esa cuadra está en construcción. El Uber pasa trabajo ya que la app lo reubica constantemente y se pierde mucho tiempo.

The location is excellent, with everything accessible within a 15-minute walk. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. However, the breakfast was quite limited in variety and could be improved. Additionally, we were not informed in advance about the roadworks taking place directly in front of the hotel. While the noise wasn't too disruptive, it did make access a bit challenging.

Historic building in the heart of old-town!

Great experience in the heart of old-town! Friendly place, and quiet location on a small side street. Shower was a bit cramped but worked fine.

The location is great - the building beautiful. However my room was the closest to the kitchen and reception desk and the sound proofing almost inexistant. I coule hear all the kitchen noise from my bed. Quite unpleasant especially the bed was soooo comfy - too bad i couldnt enjoy it to the fullest

Hotel désuet mais personnel attentionné

Lors de notre sejour fin mars, la rue était en travaux, complètement bloquée sauf les trottoirs. Difficile d'arriver avec des bagages. Reception un peu indolente. Pas de toilettes publiques à la réception. La 1ere chambre sentait l'humidité. Elle a été changée sans difficulté pour une plus grande, moins humide. Buffet de petit-déjeuner triste mais en demandant, on nous a apporté des oeufs sur le plat, du jus frais et un bon café.

There is a Road construction in front of the hotel. They never said that until the day I came, because they send me instructions and I had to walk a few meters. It is fine but I would like to know it before.

A peaceful escape

José made our stay more comfortable, as we asked to change rooms since our original room had some mold and I was having a hard time sleeping. Jose accommodated us to a different room and I slept great. It’s a really old building (like 300+ years old) so it was not surprising that there was some moisture, since Santo Domingo is so humid. The Beaterio has a fascinating history and is quite peaceful and quiet.

amazing location right in colonial zone. room is small but full of charm! might need to watch out for mosquitos if you stay on the ground floor, ;) super friendly staff - would recommend to anyone visiting Santo Domingo!

It's located in a colonial building surrounded other buildings and churches of the same era. The hotel is in a perfect location, staff are friendly and the patio and rooftop lounge were very inviting.
