Great location, short walk to the beach, old town and bus station. The room was a good size, nice to have a balcony to sit and relax. The room and hotel were very clean. There is very minimal storage for clothes in the room, so more drawer space would be appreciated. Also the layout of the bathroom was a bit unusual and some people may not feel comfortable with the openness of the shower cubicle. Also a better support for the being able to sit up in bed, the open shelf didn’t really allow for this. The reception staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about local area for recommendations.

Small but well stocked room with lots of toiletries. Very clean. Friendly staff. In a good location, a bit out of the centre but easily walkable. Not really soundproofed rooms - we could hear the cleaners start very early in the morning which kept us awake. And there’s no bar in the hotel, which would have been nice.

This is not a hotel - this is a bed and breakfast. No bar, no room service though front desk 24/7 and could bring you a bottle of wine delivered by the massage therapist that had never opened a bottle of wine before. Bed useless as it had a huge whole instead of a headboard containing telephone so impossible to sit upright with pillows behind your back while television on left side wall. The terrace was empty with one chair and little table with view to a building block. Roof terrace with “pool” with no staff or service with only lounge beds. Bathrobes only in suites - was told hotel only had 6. To call this a hotel is an insult to hotels. Breakfast very good however no one could make a mimosa. This is a 2 star B&B! 1 star for staff and 1 for breakfast. Will never come back - luckily only there for one night.

Huge lovely bedroom and great shower (also huge). But not enough clothes hooks round the wall (only 2, and although there were lots of hangers, hanging stuff there then covered the shelf behind). And the parking, whilst necessary in San Sebastian, was exorbitant at €29.50 a day. Future travellers please note the rooftop pool is smaller than it looks from the photos and isn't heated. Even in early September after a heatwave it was pretty cold! I didn't have breakfast but asked for a glass of wine just before 23.00 one day but was firmly told the bar was closed. The spa area is big, lovely Turkish bath, jacuzzi and sauna but you're only supposed to book an hour a day.

This is a decent budget hotel. Staff is very friendly. We had a few issues that were bothersome like no air conditioning in the gym. It would be dangerous to do an intense workout. The knob on our shower came off as well.

Great hotel, spacious room nicely styled. With bathroom etc being at angles it is quite tricky to navigate in the dark if need to during the night. Spa is a nice feature to have in a city centre location. Staff extremely helpful and friendly would stay again.

The Axel Hotel was an excellent choice for our stay. It boasts a prime location, attentive and accommodating staff, and luxurious facilities that made the experience truly enjoyable. San Sebastián itself is an incredible city that has everything you could want in a vacation destination. From beautiful beaches and fascinating cultural landmarks to lively bars serving a wide variety of pintxos and exceptional restaurants, it’s a place that effortlessly combines relaxation, entertainment, and gastronomy.

Ok location (15 min walk to Old Town). Hotel was very modern and clean. Room was comfortable. Layout works for a couple (not a lot of separation between bathroom area and bedroom). In an older residential area so views from the room were mid. Parking garage was tight. Had to park in city deck first night (€29) because hotel garage was full.
