I loved staying at Canario. It is a lovely historic building, with lots of character, snuggled between more modern condos, and many restaraunts and boutique shops in the hip Condado neighborhood. The clean beach was just a block away and the water was great to swim in. The staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable. The rooms weren't ideally furnished, and I was glad to have a room wit 2 full beds even though we were a couple traveling together, in order to give us some space to stretch out and put our belongings. I love supporting these kind of smaller hotels and encouraging others to stay here!

Nice area, short walk to the beach, friendly staff, comfortable room, but place is a bit worn out. There isn’t an elevator, which we knew, but others should be aware. We were able to store luggage in lounge while we went out and explored after checking out.

Parts of our stay were better than others. Our check in was not smooth, for while we were able to leave our bags to go eat, we were supposed to be called when the room was ready at 3:00. That never happened, so when we came back closer to 4:00 and were hurriedly checked in, we discovered that some of the things in the room were not cleaned or turned over. The older gentlemen on staff at that time sprang into action to help us, but it was clear they were not prepared for us. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The listing specified a rooftop seating area, but that wasn't really an accessible thing. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well; not much water pressure in the shower, but the water stayed consistently hot. We were safe, staff were friendly, and the room stayed cool, bathroom worked. Ultimately, this does not rise to the level of "boutique hotel" that we have stayed in in other areas.

The whole night I smelled sewage coming thru the A/C which now had to keep A/C I asked the front desk if I can be moved to another room they said unfortunately they were booked.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The WiFi did not work in the room at all, which made it extremely inconvenient. The room itself was not clean upon arrival, and housekeeping only made the bed but did not clean the bathroom or properly service the room. Cleanliness overall was far below acceptable standards. Additionally, the staff was unfriendly and not helpful when issues were raised. Another major drawback is that the hotel does not have an elevator, which was very inconvenient, especially with luggage. Overall, the experience was not good, and I’m honestly surprised that I didn’t see these issues mentioned in previous reviews, which makes me question how accurate or genuine they are. I would not stay here again.

Staff was ok. Rm very small. Bathroom only 1 person at a time. Floor was horrible. Just good enough for a 1 day stay but not to have a romantic stay. Bed good enough for 2 slim people. Overall place is close enough to restaurants and hanging out walking distance. Be careful with parking do valet. We paid almost 80$ next day in parking bill.
