The island is very humble, it is very clean, people are friendly. About 8 sight seeing attraction.Lots of European (I met lots from Scandinavian region) tourists. A windy this time of the year And therefore Santa Maria Beaches are with strong waves.

April is not yet high season, so staying in Santa Maria would be also quiet/cozy. You can easily find sunbeds, enough spaces to swim in the sea, etc. And the hotel area was sometimes too windy to feel even cold when cloudy.
