"Good stay over Thanksgiving but some few setbacks. First, staff were wonderful, we spent a gorgeous afternoon on the verandah reading, cozy under blankets. The grounds are lovely and the hotel is stately combining comfort and elegance. We had booked over Thanksgiving. The buffet was unimaginative, not well stocked (I twice tried to obtain turkey to no avail). What was available was barely warm. Very disappointing. Breakfast the following day was good with a full English but with coffee juice and well deserved 15%, it was just shy of $100. To me, that’s steep for bacon cooked shatteringly, a tablespoon of lukewarm beans, pedestrian hash brown patties and a couple of tiny sausages. There was a decent amount of mushrooms and roast tomatoes and the eggs were meh. Dinner that night in the Passamaquoddy Verandah began well with roast cauliflower and a burrata and tomato salad, but quickly went sideways with the pork chop main. Two of the thinnest fast fry chops you’ve ever seen made leatherlike on the grill accompanied by boiled potatoes and a smidgen of red cabbage. There was supposed to be an “apple fennel” chutney but what I got was long on apple and bereft of fennel. The dish was sent back and due to the late hour and my companion already into his halibut which was cooked well and tasty but served awkwardly, sloshing about in mussel broth along with his (substitute) mash. A bit disastrous.
King patio room needs some comfy chairs, not wooden kitchen chairs in the room. Bed 👍"
