"Probably not a busy season. When I check in nobody was at the reception. Only after I called out did a guy half-asleep came out from nowhere. Nobody helped me with the suitcases. This are services what I expected from a decent hotel"

Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. "Lovely hotel, with excellent Japanese breakfast, and kind and helpful staff always willing to go out of their way to help bewildered foreign children. (They even let us check in early when they saw how exhausted my son was.) Rooms also very reasonably priced!"
