I was told at the Saarbruecken train station that I could walk to the hotel in 10 minutes but it was uphill and some of it an isolated area and I got lost in the end so it took me a good half hour (of panic). Even after I had found it, I had to always get a cab into town or to the University campus, even though there is a bus into town and in theory I could have taken 2 buses to the Campus. (I had to be at meetings for 9am though and didn't want to venture an hour-long trip before and after them).
The hotel is beautiful, beautiful surroundings, cute rooms with many amenities incl. bath robe and slippers, free wifi and free breakfast buffet (with everything anyone could desire, from fresh fruit to cooked). The bathroom is a bit small (esp. the shower) and the washing basin looked a bit old but everything was spotless. The bed was high quality although the mattress was a bit too hard for my liking and the linen high quality although the duvet was a bit on the thin side (I was cold at night, esp. as the huge radiators did not seem to warm up the large room much).
The staff is really friendly (I appreciate a genuine smile).
So on the minus side: far from the city centre, hard mattress, difficult to warm up
On the plus side: nice tasteful rooms and surroundings, a lot of green outside, free and reliable wi-fi in the room and in the common areas, free breakfast buffet (huge variety), friendly staff, bus stop outside the hotel. Recommended for couples with a car
