If you want quirky The Mermaid Inn is the place to stay! As you step into The Inn, you are transported to a different world! We loved our bedroom with all the creeks in the floors & the big four poster bed! We had a lovely big bathroom. The breakfast was delicious plus we had dinner the one night & it was wonderful. The Mermaid Inn is a very old listed building with bags of history. As such, you don't expect there to be a lift, and the floorboards creak, but I got to sleep in a 4-poster bed which is not something you would experience in a modern hotel! The staff were always friendly and helpful, the bars were well stocked and the food good. It was a different and enjoyable experience, which I would recommend to anyone planning to come to the beautiful town of Rye.

We stayed in room 17, which had a 4 poster bed, with Period furniture and modern bathroom. A great breakfast and restaurant along with a snug type bar area. The staff were polite and welcoming with limited car parking (get there early), but in the centre of the old town

Really exceptional, as well as the staff. The pub at the back with several spots to enjoy a drink was also delightful! We enjoyed Pimm's cocktails inside and outside !
