"Our stay at the hotel was excellent overall. The location was perfect, and everything else met or even exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed our time there. As minor points for improvement, some of the food at the buffet was occasionally a bit cold, and the water pressure in the showers was somewhat weak. "We loved our stay at this resort! One of the highlights was the pool and also the spa. I got a facial and massage with Michaela, and it was so relaxing! The pool had incredible views, I enjoyed my time there. The only reason I didn't give my stay 5 stars is the room. There were stairs from the main room to the bathroom and during our last night I tripped down the stairs. It was at night and even though we left a light on they added a little bit of a barrier to using the bathroom. If you are booking a room here and hesitant about the stairs, check with the staff about moving to a different room. Everything else was great. The AC worked good, plunge pool was enjoyable, and the beach in front of the hotel was so nice as well. We were there for about 3 hours and the water was great."

"Our first visit to Elounda Mare was in May 1987, and returning again in May 2026 felt like reconnecting with an old friend. The hotel still retains its unique charm, elegance and warm hospitality that made us fall in love with it all those years ago. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with freshly painted surroundings giving the property a lovely refreshed feel. While some fixtures and fittings would now benefit from an upgrade, this in no way detracted from the wonderfully relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in a One Bedroom Superior Suite with the most enchanting view across the stunning Mirabello Bay - waking up to that panorama every morning was truly magical. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. Special thanks to the amazing concierge Ioanna, who went above and beyond to help with every request, and to the ever-helpful night receptionist Mikhalis for his kindness and professionalism. It was also a pleasure meeting the interesting new manager, whose enthusiasm for the hotel was very evident. The food and beverage team were excellent throughout our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail reception and the delightful Fish Night at the Yacht Club Restaurant. Our favourite dining experience, however, was at the Japanese restaurant Sumosan, which was absolutely outstanding. After 39 years, Elounda Mare still offers timeless charm, genuine warmth and unforgettable views. We very much hope to return soon."

"Excellent location, walking distance to Plaka and a short car ride to Elounda. The property is well maintained and enjoys a private beach. The only negative experience was the overwhelming kids on the beach and the breakfast areas despite the dedicated adults only areas which were not respected by guests nor enforced by the staff."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 We’ve just returned from a stay at Enorme Santanna Island Resort and overall had a lovely holiday, but there were a few things that stopped it from being a full 5-star experience. Starting with the positives — the staff were absolutely amazing throughout our stay. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. The rooms and hotel grounds were spotless and very well maintained. The complex itself is huge, with plenty of space and beautiful sunset views in the evenings. There are three main pools plus additional private pools for selected rooms, which is a great touch. The food overall was excellent. The buffet had a really good selection and the à la carte restaurants were mostly fantastic. The Greek restaurant was excellent and the Asian restaurant was exceptional — easily the highlight of the dining experience. Unfortunately, the Italian à la carte restaurant was a big disappointment. The food was genuinely poor and tasted like frozen food that had simply been reheated, which felt out of place compared to the quality elsewhere. There were also a couple of service issues. One day housekeeping completely missed our room, so I called reception twice to request fresh towels and for the bed to be made. They did eventually make the bed, but then forgot the towels. Not a huge issue, but something that shouldn’t really happen at this level of hotel. The room amenities were also a little underwhelming. There’s no minibar as such"
