The hotel was very good and we enjoyed our stay the staff were excellent , the food good and Gala dinner was very good. Our only concern is the room was very dark, needed more light at night time.

Fabulous!!
It was lovely. It’s not a 5 star but nice enough and all the staff are fabulous. So friendly and happy. That made the trip for us. The location is really good - 15 minutes walk to a huge shopping mall and the weekly Thursday market in one direction (left at the sea front then left again after the huge hotel beyond the river bed) 10 minutes from the rear of the hotel (turn left then left again) to the town centre and if you turn right at the sea front 10 -15 minutes walk to a small but lovely marina where there are some nice bars and restaurants!! All are really easy level walks!! The hotel is on a lovely beach and there are nice chairs, tables and sun loungers in the pool area. We particularly liked the signs saying that reserving sun beds is not allowed!! Hotel bar is great and the measures are crazy compared to UK. The waiting staff are fun loving yet professional We loved the dancing by the locals who come into the bar. It felt like we were experiencing some Spanish culture. Same with the food in the restaurant...please don’t expect British type sausages and bacon with breakfast...it’s the spanish version in a typically Spanish hotel!! We will definitely return.

lovely hotel, disappointing stay.
This trip was for a special occasion, unfortunately due to a low number of guests in the hotel the buffet dinner on offer the first evening was very poor quality and only luke warm. This was not what we had expected from such a good quality hotel. Thankfully this was rectified after speaking to reception for the following evening. The poor meal on our first evening turned the trip into a disappointing experience.

October at Don Angel
Clean and welcoming. Was worried about some reviews which spoke of dated but the bathroom had recently been refurbished to an excellent standard. In the room the enormous bed (two doubles pushed together) had new bolsters, pillow (large square) and cushion with memory foam mattress. The mini fridge was a nice touch and there were ample coat hangers in the wardrobe, which is not always the case. We had one meal from the Carte rather than the buffet menu. Surprisingly this was ordered and served in the bar with attentive service from staff. The meal was excellent and good value also though the wine was pricey for a Spanish hotel. One note:- we had booked a accessible bathroom before arrival and were told on arrival that thy did not actually have such a thing but the bathroom had a walk-in shower and was excellent with very little water getting on to the bathroom floor, i.e leaving the shower tray. It was quite a walk to bars and restaurants and the food all seemed of the 'fast' type but the harbour was attractive goal if you like an evening stroll. Other reviews spoke of the hotel being attached too a shopping centre but we saw no signs of this. Over all a delightful short break.

The location is great, beautiful view. Breakfast good, staff good with information. Downside, pool towels not allowed at beach so be prepared to bring your own beach towels, bathroom is designed to where the shower can get floor and toliet wet while shower is on, bathroom floor can get slippery.

The room was very comfortable and clean except for the shower would not stay fixed and the water ran either too hot or cold. The breakfast staff were miserable although the bar staff and around the pool very nice.

Absolutely perfect and we will return again. Staff couldn’t do enough. Spotlessly clean, lovely to have two double beds in a twin. Fantastic people-watching from the balcony as the long promenade is just the other side of the pool. Lovely views over the mountains/hills to the left and to the town to the right. Spectacular sunrise. We didn’t bother to go to the town this time, but there are shops and a great supermarket a few minutes walk turning left out of the main entrance. Not sure about trips and the area as we never went anywhere apart from a local bar along the sea front for dinner one night. We’ll definitely be back.

Great, quiet location. Very clean and great staff, especially Wendy (reception) and Julio (bar). Room was fine, a little dated in the décor if you want to be fussy, but had a powerful shower, comfy bed, working AC so did all I needed it to. Breakfast was varied, fresh and tasty. We ate locally for lunch and dinner. Plenty of sunbeds to be had at all times but this wasn't peak season. Only niggles were the building works on the roof starting much earlier than we were advised they would be on 1 day (8.25 vs 10am!) and the inexplicable telling off we got for trying to eat our own crisps by the pool (for "safety reasons"). But it was fine for others to smoke with impunity. Anyway, not big enough issues to spoil the break. Would happily return.

The only down side to our stay was the area around the pool, we were inundated with flies, everything else was really good - very friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness of the room and public area, good parking area.

Liked the fact it was right on the beach ,Was in a quite area some might find it to quite ,not us. really felt like the real Spain and not like the rest of resorts . No Irish ,English bars ,lots of tapas bars which we enjoyed . Would be handy to know some Spanish as not a lot of locals speak English .Hotel was fine ,pool was good lots of sunloungers when we were there but seemed to be getting busier before we left ..Bar was fine for quite drink but Entertainment mostly for Spanish .Staff were very helpful for those with not much Spanish .Rooms ok not going to be spending much ti me there anyway .Almeria well worth a visit ,40 minutes on bus 2 euro each way

This hotel has a lot of quirks, but each was overshadowed by its perks. Our air conditioning was broken, but we had a large balcony overlooking the ocean. The breeze was wonderful and the day-time noise was minimal. At night, the main floor bar includes singers that serenade late into the evening. It was very loud even in our top-floor room. However, the song choices were very good and the singers talented. I got over the noise pretty quickly and came to enjoy it. Breakfast was wonderful and decently priced when I booked through Expedia. The other food was over-priced and nothing to write home about. We walked inland a block or two for much more authentic food, free tapas, and better prices.I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to my friends. However, READ THE REVIEWS. There are quirks.

Friendly pleasant hotel within yards of the beach
When first arriving you are aware that The hotel is a little tired and could do with updataing. If that were to happen I’d give it an excellent rating all round. Apart from the decor, you cannot fault the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The buffet and the bar menu both have fabulous food, the pool and terrace area is clean and peaceful with waiter service available for drinks and food, which all made our 3 night stay fabulous. Outside of the hotel there’s bars and restaurants within a 15 minute walk but mostly limited to tapas menus. Would definitely use this hotel again for a short break.

Lovely position with room overlooking pool and beach. Staff friendly and pleasant although very busy especially at breakfast which was slow to clear tables but breakfast very good and plentiful. Walking distance of several restaurants but be aware of closing days some Monday or Tuesday.
