"More than just updating is needed: The strong musty smell hits you as you walk into the room. The walk-in shower had dirty grout in the corners. Dark walls, dim lighting, and poor window treatments didn’t help. Staff were helpful in changing rooms, but no accessible choices so we had to climb stairs. Tub was clean but had no grab bars. Second room also had strong musty smelling."

"Dirty rooms, broke hot tub,cranky elevator,no ice on 3rd or 4th floor. Breakfast was basic. Yogurt,waffles,biscuts and gravy and sausage. Dry cereal and diffrent breads."

"This is our second stay at The 1857, and we’re already discussing when we can visit again. The rooms are spacious & clean. Comfortable beds, great ambiance & friendly staff."

"Bathroom floor grout was completely molded. Room was incredibly humid and all the fabric surfaces were damp. The sofa in the room was tattered and stained. Sheets and beds were clean, bathroom was clean other than the molded grout. Breakfast was good. Overall property probably needs a refresh."
