We had a lovely time at Umi Hotel, location was a bit remote but was good, staff was wonder but they were doing a bit of construction but honestly didn't impact our stay at all. great breakfast spread every morning too.
great private black sand beach, walk distance to the ocean with nice ocean and mountain view. Breakfast is also good. Staff were helpful too. Horse will show up outside of your room window, don't be surprised by that😉
The room: not well laid out, not enough space to even to lay out your clothes. A room for 2 people, they give you 2 coffee pods each day. The door of hotel rooms: you really have to pull to make sure it closes when you leave room.
Breakfast is very nice, variety of fruits, eggs, bread selections.
Plenty of parking space.
Beautiful hotel. Comfortable rooms. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Great sauna with a very serene view. The only thing I would add is to say that bathing suits area required in the sauna being that it is public.
Over priced room rates as well as cost of limited selection in restaurant.
With the arrival of mosquitoes in Iceland the hotel needs to consider adding screens to their windows. Our room was very warm. No air conditioning just a small portable fan. Our one window on ground floor opened allowing cool breeze and giant mosquitoes to enter. Had to choose between being hot or being bitten. Doorless shower flooded the bathroom as the floor sloped wrong way.
Staff was friendly and private sauna lovely.
Umi Hotel was a great place to stay. Their dinner was an unexpected gem - quality and components used reminded us of meals at Michelin star restaurants. Definitely a delight and perfect stop for travelers.
Great stay. Stayed for 4 nights. Good location. Amazing food at the Michelin restaurant! A nice stay for couples. The staff was very nice and sweet. Good breakfast selections
Lovely luxury hotel. Friendly staff, lovely restaurant and amazing sauna. Food is really good. Remote location but perfect for aurora viewing and stop over on route around Iceland
Every place we stayed in Iceland was very nice but none of them compared to the Umi. This place is the phenomenal. Although it sets off away from everything, that is what makes is so special. It is a great location to see the northern lights! And you don't have to stay up all night hoping to see them. The staff will knock on your door as soon as they become visible. The private black sand beach is amazing. It is a short walk out to it but it is well worth it. If you are a horse lover, there is a herd of very friendly Islandic Horses in the field between the hotel and beach. They love to be petted. One morning they followed us back from the beach to the hotel and stood outside the restaurant watching everyone eat breakfast.
As for the staff, everyone is amazing! They are so friendly and helpful. A special shoutout to Alex in the restaurant! She helped make our dinners very special. Which brings me to the food. Everything was so tasty and the presentation of the plates was exsquisite. The kitchen staff are obviously well trained and creative. If you have one place you must stay in Iceland, it is the Umi!
Incredible stay! The property provides access to a private black sand beach. It is conveniently located to visit the waterfalls and tours from Vik. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a unforgettable.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The atmosphere was very cozy, welcoming, and friendly.
A special thank you to the amazing staff member from Poland, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. She was always happy to help and even assisted us with drying our shoes after we got completely soaked while visiting a waterfall. Her kindness and attention to detail made a huge difference.
The breakfast was also very good, with a great selection and quality food.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Iceland. Thank you for such a great experience - we will definitely be back!
