"Location was amazing – the hotel sits on its own island in the Nile and the views around the resort are stunning. Pools are excellent in size and position, especially the infinity pool overlooking the river, but they could have been cleaner: a bit murky and the pool floor wasn’t pristine, so not quite 5‑star.
Rooms were very poor for a 5‑star resort: extremely basic and not luxurious at all. We had a family room advertised as two rooms, but there’s no door between them, so it’s really one big room.
Breakfast was very average. Variety was OK, but most of the food tasted old and stale. Not 5‑star standard. The à la carte restaurant for dinner was decent; nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either.
It’s about a 20‑minute taxi ride to Karnak. Taxis organised by the hotel cost a bit more, but they were fast and included the driver waiting and providing a return trip.
Overall, very good value and the location alone is worth it, but this is not a true 5‑star experience."
