"Stuff we loved: location, historical charm, luxuries in the bathroom and robes in the room; the coffee nooks that seemed to be well stocked and kept ready to go.
Stuff that was meh: no help with your luggage; staff seems to be mostly college kids with bigger fish to fry than making guests feel attended in a way that is commensurate with the price point and the other luxurious amenities of the property.
Stuff that was downright not OK: you have to make a reservation for the free breakfast, so not only do they know how many people are staying at the hotel, they also know at what time those guests are coming in for their breakfast. Given that, being so overwhelmed that you have run out of *boiled eggs* (the only substantive protein on the complementary menu) and *silverware sets* (we had to share a napkin, as the second set of silverware was just handed to us unwrapped and told it had just been washed!) seems unreasonable . The coffee was gone. Hot water for tea was gone. Because there were no boiled eggs, we ended up having to pay for terrible, dry, flavorless egg bites from the "for purchase" menu. They were understaffed, and the staff appeared visibly harried--which only added to the feeling of not being the priority of the hotel staff.
I will say this was a Tuesday night in early November, so possibly in that lull between our busy seasons. Perhaps that explains the understaffing, but not the rest. There is room for improvement here."
