Breathless promotes itself as a luxurious beach resort, but my experience was far from what was advertised. The location is quite remote—over 70 minutes from any city area—and once you arrive, you’re essentially trapped since Ubers aren’t allowed into the gated community. The beach was disappointing, covered in dark brown seaweed with a strong sulphur smell, none of which was mentioned beforehand.
The staff was generally unfriendly, and the service left much to be desired. For example, it took three days and multiple requests to have the tub cleaned after finding leftover hair from previous guests. The Expedia concierge was also unhelpful, communicating only via a single WhatsApp message.
The food was the biggest letdown: bland, repetitive, and lacking variety, especially if you’re staying for more than a day. Even basic requests, like a bottle of water at the restaurant, were denied, with staff insisting only on the water served in jugs.
The only highlight was the drinks—they were tasty, though served in very small cups, so I’d recommend ordering two at a time. If you’re looking for a nice beach, I suggest heading to Macao Beach, 30-40 minutes away, where the sand and water are much cleaner.
Lastly, avoid the hotel’s shopping service. They took us to a tourist trap where prices were outrageous ($20for a magnet). Overall, I was extremely disappointed and will not be staying at any Breathless resort again. Hyatt should do better.
