We booked through Expedia so they gave us a room facing a road. It was fine though. The room was a little dated, but clean. The food was okay. La chez was the best restaurant. We liked the relaxing atmosphere of the adult only resort. Most of the staff were great.

Staff is outstanding! Find Maria in the buffet. She'll sing you a song and start your day off right! Crepes were delicious and there were decent options at the buffet for people that step outside the box.

Cons: Property needs some remodeling. It is old compared to other resorts. Guests ran into inconveniences such as some elevators were not working, the coffee makers on the buffer was out of service. The food was just ok. Compared to other all inclusive resorts it lack better quality choices for paying premium . Waitresses took a very long time to get anything to you. One night we waited for over two hours to get our dinner once it was out , the order was missing food. At the pool area, you had to go to the bar if you need it a drink. Not very prompt or cheerful. They seemed overworked and not very happy. Pros: Beautiful Clean Beach, multiple amenities for the entire family to have fun, own mall in the hotel, outdoor market next door. Convenient location. Relatively close to airport. Some staff members such as receptionist, cleaning crew, and chefs were helpful and seemed happy If I ever decided to go back to Punta Cana, I will probably choose another hotel.

We stayed at the Barcelo Beach adult only. We did the premium package. The VIP desk and lounge is a joke. They were not very helpful. No premium liquer or drinks at all. Not like other Barcelo's. The room location was great. We were on the third floor but there are two elevators and they were fast. The room itself was very outdated. We were at 1079 and it was on the end and very quite. There is a bath tub which is high and hard to get in and out. Plenty of hot water, and the bed was comfortable. The fridge had 3 mini beers and was Presidente and no light beer option. The air-conditioning was great. The bell boys were great! Very helpful. To get to the Palace resort, other restaurants, spa etc. you had to get a ride in what looked like a "train". Sometimes had to wait a long time. The lobby bar was the best! Shot out to Yovelin Montero, great bartender and spoke english! The beach was amazing! The sand was soft and not hot. The beach/pool chair situation was pretty good. The pool was smaller and no swim up bar. The only time we ate at the buffets restaurants was for breakfast and it was good. Definatley need more than one toaster for bread. Ate at the specialty restaurants the other days for lunch and dinner. Was able to prebook online before we got there being a premium guest which was nice. The Steak House, Mexico Lindo, Chez Gourmet and El Coral were terrible! Hoya 19 and Koyoto were okay. The La Brisa was the best for lunch and dinner!The Spa was nice but no auromatherapy.

Staff was friendly and fun. The room was comfortable and clean. We loved it there. Some helpful feedback is that the shuttle was handy but since there were 2 different loops, it was always confusing to riders which one they should get on, meaning only by asking the driver would you know.. no sign on it. We would go back!

Lights went out in the room for over 2 minutes while in the shower. The safe did not work, the sliding patio door lock was broken and the jaccuzi tub did not work. Following day we had no water in the room and the TV didn't work.

The staff, beach, and pool were absolutely amazing. The rooms are very dated which makes them feel dirty even though they were very clean. The food is.. not great. I think it would have been better if it were hot and not stale. Every piece of bread I had was hard as a rock and all the dishes were barely warm.
This is the type of plugin they use and there was only one in my room!
