Room cleanliness is very poor. Fan in bathroom has definitely never been cleaned. Bathroom in general was Windows and frames in the room were filthy.

The room was comfortable and pet friendly. Be prepared for long corridor walks as the frontage is deceptive! There is only one lift which is nowhere near reception. If you are disabled, as I am, I would request a room on the ground floor as close to reception as possible. Parking is a bit of an issue, again especially if you are disabled.

on arrival i was informed that the bar and restaurant werent opening because there was not enough guests. I had to get a taxi to Prestwick and back to get something to eat which cost just over £25.

Friendly welcome on check in, directions to room and timings for breakfast advised. Room was fairly decent, nice bathroom, plenty of sockets, tv, hairdryer, iron and board. The bed wasn’t that comfortable and very squeaky. Breakfast - we only paid £5 extra for 2 breakfasts so didn’t expect much. The Garden room was a large room with plenty of tables available. There was a selection of hot and cold foods available but hot items weren’t that hot at 8.30am. Breakfast timings of 7-9am on a Sunday were also very early.

I had a tough week came away this weekend's and came away with a nice clear heads staff was very friendly the food was top quality and there's no bother if you've got any questions there just answer it I will be back to shame my had to go home I got quite easy of squatted there

Beautiful Country House In A Stunning Setting.

Old style country manor in a beautiful location and setting in the Ayrshire countryside. Staff very friendly and some of the public areas were beautiful (Grand Staircase a particular highlight) Breakfast buffet was also well worth the money, although the room was not the easiest to get to. BUT - the bedrooms need serious updating. Cleanliness was good but not great, floorboards creaked all over the place, bed was uncomfortable, bathroom had cracked tiles al over the place, one window was draughty and didn’t lock, and the bedroom in general felt like it was stuck in the 1980s. Such a shame and a stark contrast to the rest of the building. Would visit again just for the setting though.

Staff were excellent but…. Room was clean but Stairwells looked like they hadn’t seen a hoover for some time. Window in room needed replacing - condensated up within the pane No evening meal available so had to send out for a takeaway Looks like no real investment in ongoing refurbishment for some time

It seems the staff does the best they can with what Britannia provides. The building is in poor condition and run down. It has the potential to be a spectacular destination if the owners spent some money. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Any work that has been done, has been done on the cheap. They get their senior bus tours and seem to be happy with the money that brings in. The restaurant is a glorified cafeteria and has absolutely no character. Carpets were dirty snd in need of vacuuming. If your looking to stay here, keep looking.

Great place to stay

Great stay, staff were very friendly and it had everything we needed. Very good value for money. The only thing that could have been improved was to allow dogs in the bar area, or at least part of it!

Basic hotel

Room very small. Not particularly clean, old fashioned decor. Shame as could be a great hotel with some updating. The dining room basic with basic food. All this would be ok for a 3 star hotel except we paid £90 for a night. Bar full of drunk folk and we were kept awake by the loud entertainment.
