Porters Ski Area Tours

Absolutely stunning! We visited on the opening weekend and it was great. Powdery open trails, get trails for all levels too. Not busy by any standard, and the views from the top are breathtaking. Advice: It is in a basin where the sun doesn't get to much so dress warmly! And I would recommend a 4 wheel drive as the road is very steep gravel :) Other than that - just the essentials. Snacks, and a camera!

This was our favorite stay in New Zealand. Comfortable house in the cute town of Twizel with lots of dining options, two grocery stores, amazing stars, and convenient to Mt Cook. The house is in a neighborhood so a bit tricky to find at night, but very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and a good set up for a family. My only suggestions would be to add lamps (why do New Zealanders hate bedside lamps??) and maybe a few DVDs (after a long day of hiking, would have been nice to watch a family movie!). Overall we loved it - and eat at Mint Folk & Co in town if you can!
