The service was exceptional overall. The valets, front desk, room service, maintenance, and dining staff were 10/10 (really 11/10) going above and beyond. Bar staff were fine 9/10. Activity booth attendants were sporadic but not bad 7 or 8/10. Paying $12/day for parking in an unattended sun-scorched lot located about 100 yards from the hotel entrance seems like an insult. There’s absolutely no reason for that other than knowing they can get away with it. (Hopefully that and other expenses go toward staff salaries; they deserve to be well paid for what they do.) The buffet costs are kind of ridiculous ($35 for a not too impressive dinner buffet), but room service and menu items are reasonable considering the situation. My kids enjoyed the stay but were disappointed that the pool slide was closed (they are slowly repairing it, I guess; don’t know but saw some work being done). Most of my complaints are “first world problems,” but for the price of a room there… I didn’t find it to be a good value, and we honestly enjoyed our Airbnb stays (at half or less than half the price) as much or more. I knew going into it that this was a silly splurge and that I’m not a resort hotel kind of guy; these two days reconfirmed my hunch. Great staff, good (or at least average) facilities, but unimpressive overall and not anything I’d do again.
