The property is old, It is extremely necessary to fix some things, especially the bathrooms. Defective shower. The pools need more love and staff to take care of them. Only in one could the attention be seen.

The grounds are beautiful, our room was clean and spacious. Couldn’t get the shower to work consistently- temperature kept varying between extremely hot and cold, despite asking management to fix it twice. Food and service at Italian restaurant was excellent. Had a disappointing encounter with one member of staff in the restaurant at the beach ( which served breakfast and lunch) who was determined not to give me two spoons one day when I had ordered uber eats and wanted to eat in our room. Two spoons and he would not give them to me . After about an hour and having to go to the Mai desk, I got the two spoons for our now cold food. There is a bar there open most of the time called Allegria which has about as much atmosphere as the moon. They do afternoon tea in the main building which is nice. There are about 3 or 4 pools, 3 of which look like they have a hot pool, don’t be fooled, they’re not. The pools, however, are nice.

This turned out to be an amazingly relaxing vacation at Royal Hideaway. I’m only giving 4 stars because of the immense amount of seaweed in the ocean at the time (not the resorts fault). The food was excellent here!! And the grounds are kept immaculate. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. It’s wasn’t too crowded and the whole resort has an overall quiet atmosphere, but still fun at the main pool with activities. Shopping right across the street with a short walk. Highly recommend visiting this resort in Playa!

Beautiful, quiet and relaxing resort. We spent 8 nights here for our honeymoon and would definitely return! Great staff, delicious food! Beware of the sargasso seaweed - it sounds like it is bad during certain times of the year. We were at the resort 6/1-6/9 and the last 2 days it was really rolling in and the beaches were covered.

We loved this resort! Great price and amazing staff! Will definitely be staying here again in the future. We definitely took advantage with the food, drinks and room service being all inclusive! Definitely bring long pants (men) if you’re planning on going to the formal restaurants. We forgot but were able to borrow pants from the resort lol

Second time staying at this resort. First time was about 20 years ago. Still a beautiful property with great restaurant options. Food was very good. Great options at the grill for breakfast and lunch. Property is well maintained. Utilized the spa. Excellent service. Rooms can use an update. Particularly with the plumbing and air conditioning. Room was quite warm.

The Royal Hideaway was an absolutely wonderful and relaxing place to stay. From the moment we arrived, everything felt serene and luxurious. The beach is stunning—clean, peaceful, and perfect for unwinding. The pool area is equally impressive, with crystal-clear water and plenty of space to lounge and soak up the sun. This was our third time to this resort. Haven’t been in about 10 years . Still a solid adults only resort. Wonderful beach and clean pools and wonderful food. I highly recommend if you want very relaxing , low key adults only resort. We prefer a smaller hotel. Very walkable. Love the room service and all the workers are so nice and very helpful. Loved the live guitar player by the pool. Spices was our favorite restaurant. We do miss the ceviche and tuna tartar that used to be served at lunch. The paella lunch by the pool was great. Plan to go back next year.
