An oasis in the city

The room was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The air-conditioner was placed vertically next to the bed so one side was colder than the other, and it took about half an hour to bring down the temperature after returning to the room. The hotel is like an oasis in the middle of the city. It was a bit hard to get to though since signs weren't clearly marked (and the fact that tuk-tuk drivers weren't familiar with that area). However, on the plus side, the location is fairly quiet in contrast to the traffic on the main roads. But in the night, there were a couple of incidents with barking dogs in the small street outside the hotel. For half-day trips around the city, I'd recommend using the hotel's taxi service, and also for getting back to the airport. It's also a good idea to make agreements with tuk-tuk drivers for round trips for instance to the Aeon shopping mall. The hotel has a nice swimming pool that the other guests seemed to enjoy. There was a cute baby cat with orange fur which seemed to be taken care of by the staff. They spoke English well so communication wasn't an issue. The wi-fi was reliable and I don't remember any disruptions in the connection. However, one morning, the electricity was out for an hour or so. I don't know if that's normal, but it was probably not the fault of the hotel. There are several trees within the hotel's area which featured plenty of delightful bird songs and displays. Lastly, the bed was very comfy.

Un hôtel calme et agréable

Dans l'ensemble, Samsara Villa à Phnom Penh est un bon hôtel. La chambre est grande, confortable, propre. Les petits déjeuners et repas étaient délicieux. Le personnel est aux petits soins, aimable, souriant. Il réservent taxis, tuk-tuk ou encore excursions pour vous. Par contre, sur leur site, il est indiqué qu'une navette peut venir nous chercher gratuitement à l'aéroport or celle-ci coûte 12 $. Le seul bémol de cet établissement est qu'il se trouve un peu excentré des attractions de la ville.

Hotellet är jättemysigt. Jag skulle vilja säga att det är ett modernt designhotell. Området kring poolen var djungelbetonad och trevlig. Personalen var hjälpsam och serviceinriktad. Det enda som inte var bra var omgivningarna och att det var svårt att hitta hotellet eftersom det ligger på en smal bakgata.

Best hotel of all

I have stayed at 15 hotels this past month and this was by far the best. My room was amazing, super clean and quiet and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Service, style and sustainability

Plusses: - Excellent service - Peaceful place - Nice pool and pool area - Big rooms with nice decor - Ecological / sustainable vibe - Very strong wi-fi network - Great overall value Minuses: - Some distance from the sea (compansated by the nice pool) - Still some development going on after the previous owner More in-depth: This place has recently gotten a new European management and changed its name. What we understood, a lot of development has taken place recently and there's more on the way. The staff is extremely nice and the service is just as good. The breakfast was plentiful and we tried the dinner once. It happened to be seafood BBQ made by the staff and it was delicious. Compared to other hotels in the area we experienced, Villa Kep is a bit more stylish, everything works and as a plus for the sustainable traveler, they grow their own veggies, take good care of their waste and are on the way of being even more sustainable. PS. If you've been traveling a while and there's a growing need for some good wine (for a reasonable price), this is your place.

Tout etait très bien. Un seul bémol qui ne tient pas à l'hôtel mais aux expat francais qui viennent profiter du calme des lieux pour... Faire du bruit!! Cela s'appelle de l'incohérence. Ils consomment donc peuvent bénéficier de la piscine. Mais arrivent à plusieurs, prennent toute la place et ne se préoccupent pas des clients de l'hôtel. Le calme et la beauté du jardin tropical font de cet Hotel un hâvre de paix que j'ai apprécié particulièrement en l'absence des expat francais. Le directeur de l'hôtel est d'une très grande amabilité. Tout est fait pour nous rendre le séjour agréable. Je recommande chaudement

Great little oasis in Southern Phnom Penh

Stayed overnight following a business meeting. The staff were great as usual. Although they could not give me a late check-out, they allowed me to stay at the hotel until my flight and relax near the pool. Also gave me a free room upgrade! Thank you!

Great boutique Hotel in Phnom Penh

Hotel is off the main road so many tuk-tuks have a hard time finding it. However my driver from the airport knew right where it was. The beds are a bit harder than I am used to, but still nice. Pool is great! Food was delicious. I was there for a week and the operation manager allowed me to try out different rooms. Great staff. Will most likely stay at Samsara Villa again.

Relaxing room pool and helpful staff.

Modern designed room in new block on first floor. The pool area was relaxing and attractive. Staff replied promptly to emails and the arranged airport transfer was efficient. The tuk tuk service to town was 3$ and also used to the killing fields approx. $14. Food was good for breakfast and evening meal and all staff were helpful including booking good PSD Express coach to the coast. We would recommend.

I loved that hotel. Not properly in the town center but there is always a tuk tuk available to take you anywhere so no problem! I absolutely enjoyed the view and the pool!

Sehr schönes Hotel, verdient ausnahmsweise den Namen "Boutique Hotel". Dem Personal würde man ins Arbeitszeugnis schreiben "gab sich stets Mühe". Freundlich waren sie aber.

Nice hotel, great staff

Fantastic room, fantastic service. There were a few things that were slightly not great but no deal breakers eg. listing said slippers came with the room. The pool was great for a cool down dip. The food in the hotel cafe was good but not great. They couldn't make lattes because the milk frother was broken the whole time of my stay. Other than that, very helpful and great staff. They seemed to be willing to go out of their way to help with any issues. The location isn't that exciting. There are a few places to eat around and a convenience store if you want to risk your life crossing the road. It's not so much a neighbourhood you want to hang out in as a quiet place to come back to after a day of sightseeing.

Small oasis hotel

The hotel is not central but that is its charm with its small scale, garden setting and pool. When the tuktuk arrives at the gate you leave behind the city and enter a small oasis. The room we had - my partner, our young son and I - was charmingly decorated and invisibly restored to order every day. Attentive, courteous and friendly staff looked after our needs well. We enjoyed our stay greatly.

A brilliant place to stop in Phnom Penh

The hotel is away from the centre but in a very peaceful location. It has a lovely pool with the communal area beside it. Our room was beautiful and we'll appointed with a balcony overlooking the pool. The staff were all friendly and arranged a good tour of the Royal Palace, S21 prison and the Killing Fields; also a well priced fast bus to Siem Reap. Breakfast was all we needed and the one evening meal we had was good.
