Basic but pleasant

It was as good as I expected - very quiet so a great sleep. It is not the Ritz but a comfortable bed for a night sleep it is absolutely fine!

Took a few calls to owner before she said door was stiff and had to really shove it to open after keying in number. Basin cracked. No hook in bathroom or place to put clothes Property in need of basic maintenence.

Stunning house and great service.

An absolutely stunning house and great service. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here and will be back. Durham is a beautiful city and our stay here was the icing on the cake. We are both carnivores and the staff were very considerate, giving us a packed breakfast to take with us as we had to leave very early on the morning of our departure. Thank you so much for an incredible break. We will be back in the spring. James and Lydia.

Wish i had not found Lost Guest House

Check in was a nightmare Intercom to get in, terrible sound quality, no idea what was said. Given key for wrong room. Lady came to correct, very sorry. Walls paper thin, difficult to sleep. Disrupted one morning at 3am by someone watching tv, another time by a loud srgument on phone. Room small, very little space around bed, door into bathroom very awkward as hung on wrong side. Internet unreliable, one night did not work at all, otger times signal dropped regularly, very annoying. We wanted somewhere to have a good sleep for a long working day, not possible here.

I would give this place a 2- or 3-star review if I had paid standard hotel prices for it, but given how inexpensive it was, I believe a 4-star review is reasonable. There is no security to the check in process - envelopes with guests' full names, contact information, length of stay, room number, and key are left in a front entryway, which was never locked during the entire week I was there. The walls are so incredibly thin that I could hear every word of any conversations had in neighboring rooms - I could even hear my immediate neighbor snoring, and I was woken up by my neighbor's vibrating phone alarm in the morning. I was fortunate to have quiet neighbors while I was there, but this could be a significant problem if your neighbors are less considerate than mine were. There are signs warning that the bathroom door must be closed while showering and the fan on, or it could trip the fire alarm. I'm not sure if someone neglected to follow these instructions, but there was a fire alarm on the first night I was there, and it took some time to get staff to the property to turn it off. My bathroom door was also very difficult to open/close, as the door did not fit well in the frame. Staff were friendly during housekeeping visits, which I generally declined during my week-long stay due to working on my laptop in the room. I was usually (but not always) able to find additional towels and other supplies downstairs as needed. The area is fairly quiet, and easy to walk around.

Globalement très bien

Très agréable. Lits confortables et grande douche. Le seul bémol est le parquet qui craque : dès que quelqu'un bouge, tout le monde se reveille. Sinon le séjour s'est très bien passé. Proche du centre ville à pied et des commerces.
