My daughter and I stayed at the Tonic Hotel during our visit and found it to be a good, budget-friendly option. While the hotel is older and could definitely use some updates—especially the decor and room layout—it was clean and comfortable for a short stay.
The room had a quirky setup, with the bain douche (shower/bath combo) oddly placed at the end of the bed, which might not suit everyone, but everything worked fine and was well-maintained.
We felt very safe, thanks in large part to the wonderful 24-hour door person, who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well looked after. As two women traveling together, that added peace of mind made a big difference.
The location is excellent—just a short, easy walk to the metro. There are tons of restaurants and cafés nearby, including a Starbucks for North Americans wanting a familiar option. There’s also lots of shopping just down the block, although we didn’t explore it this time.
All in all, this hotel was a solid choice for a mother-daughter trip focused on convenience, safety, and walkability rather than luxury.
