Reall nice hotel and very helpful owner who looked after us and had great local knowledge. Rooms were huge and pool was quiet and got the sun until late.

Lovely location. Very very nice staff - the receptionist and the owners were charming and helpful. Pretty building in a picturesque village close to Carcassonne. Good facilities.

Great place to stay when visiting Carcassonne
Very welcoming with comfortable rooms and good breakfast. No evening meal but there is an excellent restaurant in the same building. Easy to get into Carcassonne and gives you a very tranquil place to stay. We were here when devastating floods hit the area and the village of Palaga. We had no problems thanks to the attentive service we had from the owners who did everything possible to make our stay perfect.

Great hotel for peace and quiet near Carcassonne
Loved our 5 night stay at this hotel. Very comfortable and quiet but still only a short drive from Carcassonne. The manager is very helpful with suggestions for sights. Adjacent restaurant is very good too. Highly recommend!!!

This hotel is absolutely exquisite. The staff are wonderful and the rooms are so comfortable and beautiful. We enjoyed the grounds and the pool and wished we had booked more nights. I hope to go back one day.

Lovely restored chateau in park outside Carcassonn
This was a lovely place to stay a few minutes outside of Carcassonne in a beautiful park. The chateau has been beautifully and comfortably restored. The owner is perhaps a bit too protective — no coffee in the rooms! But the breakfast buffet is generous and delicious, with many homemade items.

Amazing Hotel
We had a lovely stay in Châteaux de Palaja. The hotel and grounds were immaculate, staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bed was the comfiest we have had in the whole of France. We would return without hesitation.

A great stay at Château de Palaja
Great place to stay near Carcassonne, only a 5min drive from the old city and castle! We stayed only one night while traveling through the area, just enough time to visit the old city, but we wished we would have stayed longer. The owners of the place are just absolutely charming and will help you plan your stay to get the most out of it. The hotel is also very comfortable, with an excellent breakfast and spacious rooms (we booked the family suite), a pool, ping-pong tables, sauna, work-out room and an excellent collection of comics if you enjoy this sort of reading! We'll come back!

Charming place with a wonderful host.
Wonderful host, very quiet and charming hotel. Restaurant next door is excellent. I wish there were more places like this and fewer of the chain hotel hotel lookalikes.

Renovated Chateau nearby Carcassonne
Our stay at Chateau de Palaja was every bit as wonderful as we expected. Cathy and her husband went out of their way to point out places of interest in the area and to make sure we had everything we needed. The room and bathroom are tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, as well as all areas of this renovated chateau. One of the best breakfasts we have ever had in our travels through different areas of France! The restaurant next door was outstanding and beautifully decorated. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends when they visit the Cathar region!

Beautiful hotel, in dream-like setting.
We loved this Château. The room was perfect and the bed most comfortable we had in France. There is a pool and nice garden area. It is about a 6 minute drive to Cite Carcassonne to see the walled castle. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had the breakfast which was a good selection and nice cafe au lair machine. I would have stayed more nights if we had time. We would definitely return and highly recommend Château de Palaja.

A place to relax away from the city noise
The hotel is run very efficiently by a lovely couple - Catherine & Eric Remy, always smiling and happy to help. It is situated in a quiet spot in a village, 10min drive from Carcassonne. Beautiful old building restored and redecorated with taste, using even some reclaimed materials, which gives the place charm and singularity. E.g. I liked the idea of using old wooden shutters for the side bed tables in our room, "Mirepoix". Very clean throughout. Wonderful bed and very good shower. Tasty breakfast, good assortment of products, many of them locally sourced. The next door restaurant (serious food and service) and the one in the in the next village (cheaper and cheerful), L'Arbre Du Voyageur served us very good food.

Excellent small hotel. We will return.
A lovely hotel in a wonderful position if you are traveling by car. The house itself is glorious. We stayed in the larger room which is a junior suite and we loved the size and ambience. The staff couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. The grounds are superb and the access easy. It's a short drive to the La Cite. It's a good departure point for the Cathar countryside if that's your thing. We did a lot of that and it was always a delight to return home where the aircon is good and the bed super-comofortable. The restaurant next to the hotel is lovely but is not run by the hotel.

Restful stay embracing local culture
We are so glad we chose to stay at Chateau Palaga just outside of Carcasonne for our visit. This 12 room family run Hotel was welcoming, comfortable, and unique. It is conveniently located in a small, quiet village just outside of Carcasonne. The hosts were warm and helpful with great language skills. The available breakfast buffet was full and tasty and worth the cost. The complimentary coffee and tea service available at any time in the dining room was a nice touch. One of the hotel's great advantages is its location next door to a fine dining restaurant. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing dinner with superb service. One of three Belgian born brothers who run the restaurant served us was happy to explain every detail of the menu to us in perfect English. Please note that the restaurant serves only 20 clients a night so MAKE a RESERVATION in ADVANCE. Total bill for two 85 Euro. The hotel will offer guidance upon request. The combination of this boutique hotel and a wonderful restaurant steps away is a can't miss.

Beautiful chateau in a lovely setting.
We were delighted when we arrived at Chateau de Palaja. It is located in a very small town near Carcassonne, which was our "tourist" destination. It was beautiful and well maintained. And, fortunately, it is next door to an amazing French restaurant which we enjoyed for two evening meals !! Our room was very nice, comfortable and clean. Our only complaint was the owner's comments about booking through outside agencies. In reality, we would not have found this lovely Château if we had not used Expedia. These comments made us, as her "guess", somewhat uncomfortable as we were leaving. Otherwise, it was a beautiful, comfortable stay in this location.

Wonderful chateau, clean and well run
We stayed at this Chateau de Palaja, in Palaja, Carcassonne, France, for a unique experience, and we were rewarded. The chateau is very well run and exceptionally clean and quaint. The proprietor was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming. Our room was quiet and well organized. The breakfast was the very best one could ever find in France. The dining area for coffee, tea or other beverages, and reading room are always open. The UNESCO Midieval City is just 10 minutes away, as is the proper city of Carcassonne. It truly was a welcome break from staying in hotels.

Very unique hotel to stay in France
We arrived and the owner improves our reservation allowing stays on bigger room. I was surprised because the size of the room (huge) not easy to find it in Europe, the rooms have very unique furniture and decoration. The next morning we have an excellent breakfast. The hotels have a nice grounds with many trees good to relaxing They have a restaurant beside of the hotel( not owned by the hotel) with good food and menu In general I describe the hotel a good place to stay and feel relaxing away of the city with unique decoration and location

Quiet location a few minutes from Carcassonne
We spent two nights here as a base for exploring the countryside around Carcassonne. The city itself is just over 5 minutes drive away, so easy to get to for dinner in the evening. Palaja is a nice, quiet village on the edge of the hills, and much more relaxing than Carcassonne. The Chateau is full of character, and we really enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast is recommended, although it does cost a little extra.

We had a wanderful stay. Our room was really spacious with a separate bathroom and sitting room and we loved the old charm feel. It was nice also to be able to make ourselves a coffee whenever we wanted which we enjoyed in the lovely garden and in the library/sitting room. The owner was extremely helpful and her advice was much appreciated. Fantastic restaurant on the premises & great location only about 6km from Carcassone.

Very well appointed hotel more like staying in a large French house in the countryside, The owners were more than helpful in advising what to see and the best places to visit in the surrounding countryside. The room was spotless, the breakfast was excellent with lot of choices and we were able to take this outside into the pretty garden or have drinks there later on in the evening.

Comfortable room and bed, recently done to a high standard. Conveniently located a few miles from Carcassonne in a quiet area. Owner speaks good English. We would have preferred breakfast to be included in the price rather than as an extra, particularly as there was no facility for making hot drinks in the room. Overall a very good experience and we would recommend it.

This hotel, and its friendly staff, saved our holiday after an air traffic control strike left us (wife and two small children) stranded in a rental car at Carcassonne airport. The Room was spacious, clean, comfortable and very well presented. We cooled off in the pool before a very pleasant and relaxing meal in the restaurant next door. Lovely gardens, helpful staff, excellent breakfast. Highly recommended.

The owner could not have been more charming and helpful. I had mistakenly booked a room for Monday night when we were due to arrive Tuesday night. When we arrived on Tuesday the owner was so understanding, expressing her pleasure that we had finally arrived and not suffered some mishap en route. The breakfast was excellent as was the adjoining restaurant.
